Lately, my 96 gt has been acting strange. whenever i am at a low rpm in any gear (1500-2500) and give it throttle, it hesitates badly almost like a misfire. i really thought that it was a misfire but i would think that would throw a code and the mil. i pulled the plugs out and they looked as if they were burnin hot but im not sure if that is the cause of the stumble during acceleration.

secondly, my non pi gt just turned 95,000 miles. i kinda think that is quite a bit old to be doing serious mods too (pi heads, intake, aftermarket cams) since the bottom end still has all those miles. so i was thinkin of getting another 4.6 that i could build up, then drop it in the car once its ready. but i remember seing 5.4 swaps and i was wondering if thats even a possibility. i dont have too much money to play with since im in college but i think it would be crazy to have a 5.4 gt. has anyone ever done this? is it a drop in bolt up or do it require serious fabrication. that dohc 5.4 would be an awesome starting point for mods. what kind of computer tuning would be needed and i dont think i could use the stock 4.6 ecu? well it was just a thought so lets here what u guys think!!!

The hesitation is cause by a clogged fuel filter and lack of other basic preventitive maintenance.

I am not even going to comment on the engine swap...

i would say it is a spark problem. most likely your plug wires.

It is def fuel or spark. Could you have put the filter in backwards?
