I put a "low mileage" steering rack in my car a few months ago. problem is when i turn the wheel all the way to the left, it gets really hard to turn at the end right before the steering wheel bumpstop.

Now it only happens when I turn the wheel to the left, and only at low speeds..

im baffled here

sounds like you have a bad rack. if it was a bad pump it would happen if you turned to the right also. time to get a flamming river rack

I'm less than satisfied with my reman.

It's hit or miss, though.

Idk if you remember my posts a while ago; i was having semi-similar steering problems. Only certain parts on the steering wheel rotation were hard to steer.

I got:

-a new rack
-a new pump

Still didn't fix it.

Finally i got what they were calling the "intermittent steering shaft" replaced and it solved the problem.

I've never even heard of it i guess its a part of the steering column. Anyways i spent a good 800 when i could have spent 80.

Moral of the story: be sure u know whats wrong before you start replacing ****! (i learned the hard way)

steeda makes a factory upgraded version http://www.steeda.com/products/flaming_river_steering_racks.php

94-98 Power Rack and Pinion :
15:1 Power Steering Rack. Heavy-Duty 6-fin housing, large bearings, firm valving, great replacement rack or upgrade. (non flaming river product).

ill check see if i can narrow the problem down, I wonder why it does this only at low speeds? <15 miles per hour...

i dont think the steeda version is the same as agr, it costs 50$ more.. unless they took the agr rack and decieded to charge more for it

im sure the flaming rack is an excellent peice of equipment however, it cost almost as much as 4 tires (255's lol). I did see flaming river has a no vibration addon to their rack which bumps price up to 630$.
