just got back from the drag strip. just in case anyone doesnt know, im the guy with the white 05 in the gto video. last week i ran a 14.0 with about 100 miles on it. tonight i made 4 runs, my slowest being 13.91. my fastsest run was 13.71 @99.10. the car weighed 3775 with me in it (240). i cut a 1.943 sixty foot. these cars hook like crazy, 4000 rpm launch on the stock tires. the weather was terrible, very humid , and the car still has only 400 miles on it. when these babies get broken in , low 13s shouldnt be a problem. i did learn one thing , the car runs better short shifting 3rd and going thru the traps in 4th.

ive been reading shifting at 5400-5500 will net better numbers than spinning it up to 6000 but I wouldnt know, its worth a try though.

There is another post on this board about an dyno result on the 05 GT. IT appears that the power falls off at about 5250 RPM. Does this suggest a better time if short shifted just over 5000 RPM? Also, what is the optimal launch RPM around 2800RPM or 4000 RPM?

i first tried launching at around 3000, it just bogged with 2.1 sixty.i also tried to launch at about 4800 , it spun but still cut 1.96.

Nice numbers, I'm sure as it breaks in some more you'll see some higher traps as well!!

Don't just read do some numbers yourself and you can find out where optimal shift points are based on gear ratios and rpm changes:

Lets say for instance:

first gear ratio is 3.38:1 and second gear is 2.00:1

If you shift at 6250 rpms @ 260 hp:
3.38 * 260 hp = 878.8 affective HP.

Now what rpm will you be at when you shift @ 6250?:
2.00/3.38 = .5917
6250 * .5917 = 3698 rpms

The powercurve at 3698 is 210hp
210hp * 2.00= 420 Affective HP.

You dropping your power in HALF if you shift even at 6250. If the crank can handle it id say shift closer to a mach ones redline but i'm not sure if it will handle that high of rpms without a forged crank.

Nice work keep on soldiering it will be interesting to see how things go when the cars are broken in. Sounds like the new suspension is paying dividends.

Nice improvement in poor conditions.

Keep us posted, sounds like if the weather is any good you'll break 13.5 next time out.
