drop them 700-1000 bucks. then when you reach a "reasonable" price and they are hesitant, show them the cash. money registers faster than words sometimes

Exactly what 17stanger said. When I bought mine, I had looked at it a few days earlier with a price of 6500, I made sure I showed little interest in the car. I called him back 3 days later, and told him, "Man, I'm not trying to offend you, but I 've got a notch I'm looking at for 4500, and that is all the cash I have on hand right now. " He wasnt sure at first, until I told him I was willing to drive over right then with the cash and thats how I got mine. 94 5speed with 73k on the clock, clean title, 4500 cash.

Well i had my uncle whos a used car dealer call the guy and ask him about the car, the guy said it had a few nicks in the paint but other than that the car is in good condition, so my uncle said he would give the guy $7000 cash right now and the guy said he would think about. The car is a 1994 cobra, 38,000 miles, and the guy is asking 9800. What do you guys think?

My uncle said that 38,000 is pretty fishy for a 10 year old car. The guy claims that its his dead fathers car.

dude and the guy i talked to said he has 5 cars so he never drives the stang, whether he did or not people will tell you whatever to try and sell u a car, im not saying hes lying to you but you should protect your investment by checking into it. simple carfax wont mean anything to him if he has nothing to hide

Theres usually ~$1k - $1500 bargain room on used cars on dealer lots, a little less from private sellers usually.
