I have a 1970 mach 1. i'm trying to find out if ford stamped the vin # onto the engine block ( 351 windsor) and if so what is the location.

cant you find it on the fender or door tag?

or are you looking for the "matching numbers" ?

I as far as I know, Ford only stamped the 289HP in the k-code mustangs, the Boss 302's and the Boss 429's. Yours would not have the serial number in the block. You would have to check date codes to see if they are correct or not.

My 70 428 was stamped and my friends 69 390 was stamped, so you are incorrect.
