Ok the problem i have is i found a little black cylinder looking think in the engine bay. And it has a vacum line going in the bottom of one side and it comes out the other. It is on the passenger side by the fire wall. And it has a plug in the top and goes in the harness. My question is what is this thing and do i need it. It is about 1 inch diameter and like 2 inch long and has black rubber around it. Thanks jay

It sounds like the evap canister, but I could be wrong, it's used for emmissions. I still have mine so I dont know what would happen if you got rid of it, I assume that if you don't have a smog pump or off road pipe, you might not need it.

It's the evap canister purge solenoid. It vents gas vapor from the gas tank into the manifold. I would keep it if I were you. Unless you get a vented gas cap.

I offer one item of caution. The EVAP system is closed as it comes from the factory. If you happen to park in a garage with a gas heater of some sort, a vented gas line and a pilot light dont go well together.

LOL good point, I would leave it alone, its tucked pretty much out of the way, I forgot to plug the connector on mine back in while messing around and it threw a code.
