I know the VIN number is displayed in the windshield, but is it stamped somewhere on the body of our cars as well?

Unfortunately stickers aren't good enough for the inspection I'm having done. I t needs to be stamped into the metal.

Im not sure exactly which side, but stamped into the actual body of the car on I believe the passenger side is the vin. You pull the sill plate off and pull the carpet up a bit and its clear as day.

I'm having it inspected in Denmark and their requirements are insane.

I will check those locations again tomorrow, maybe I missed them the first time I looked.

I just hope it's not a plate like in the windshield, because when I had it inspected they specifically told me it had to be stamped into the frame of the car. I guess it's easy to replace the plate if the car got stolen?!

I just realized that when you said it's located on the firewall, you are probably referring to the riveted plate displayed through the windshield? Inspection did see that one but weren't satisfied.

No, firewall as in the wall between the engine bay and the passenger cabin. I'm sure there's one there. Either that, or it's stamped on the firewall.

You won't find that type of information. I know where they are, but I am not willing to share.

serviator is probably legit but I have to admit, when I first read this, the first thing that came to mind was that the car is "hot" and/or made up of stolen parts and he's looking to scrub it and/or hide the evidence.

Sorry serv, that's just the way it struck me. Maybe things really are that different in Denmark or the registration for an imported car is that much more onerous...

I've been searching high and low for the VIN in the locations you suggested, including pulling off the door sills on both sides, so far with no luck. Unfortunately, any removable parts are not accepted

I did call Ford yesterday and they normally don't help people out of country, even though I bought my car new from a dealership in Colorado. The customer representative was nice and tried to try to help me out anyway. She told me they aren't trained in technical questions and she only knew of two locations: the door (on the sticker) and the plate seen through the windshield.

Calling my old dealership isn't a bad idea. I think I'll try that tonight, but first I'll go out and take a second look at the locations you guys suggested.

Awesome. I will take a look at it tomorrow and hopefully I can get my car on the road soon. Thanks for checking with your friend - that's a great help!
