It is still a VW, nice for picking up coffee, even if it is fast...

The real R32 looks like this...

That's one ricer your average bolt-on 'stang won't beat...

Let's face it; threads like this need to be started after you've raced one. Then you can talk about why you did or didn't win.

Except that this thread wasn't started about a Nissan Skyline, it was started about a heavy 240bhp 5 door hatchback VW Golf.

what do they do to it for stage 1 and how much, its only a little 3.2 n/a V6, they must be adding a turbo to it for that kind of power.

Stage I

The R32 factory engineers have beefed up clutch components, enlarged the exhaust diameters, throttle bodies and the valve train over previous 24v configurations. With this in mind, HPA Motorsports designed Stage 1 system to retain the stock catalytic converters, clutch assembly and exhaust system.

Fully upgradeable, the stage I offers a driving sensation associated with most exotics without the exotics price.

Component list:

1 bar (14.5 psi) boost
2 Hybrid KKK K04 turbochargers with oversized exhaust housings
Velocity tuned HGP Exhaust Manifolds
Twin 52 mm Down pipes
Compression reducing head plate (8.0:1)
Hi-Flow HGP cast aluminum Intake Manifold
Dual Side mount intercoolers
Proprietary Silicon Boost piping
Proprietary Hi-Flow formed Silicon and Stainless piping
Hi flow fuel injectors
Hi-Flow Mass Airflow sensor
Hi-Flow secondary fuel pump
Re-tuned factory ECU
Proprietary Electronic boost controller
Price: $24,000
Install: $2,500

A little pricey, but a solid performer nonetheless.

nice, it would be cool to see someone do this to a modern V8 or V12. The Aston Martin 6.0 V12 has great potential, it would probably be about 750bhp in Stage 1 trim, and 1200bhp in S3 guise. It might cost a tad more than the VW to do though!

a badge change doesn't alter how many doors it has.

A coupe has 2 door, left/right

a 3 door hatch, left/right/rear

a 5 door hatch, front left/front right/rear left/rear right/rear

It maybe a 3 door not a 5, the 4motion was a 5 door though.

yes so 2 doors plus 1 hatch door = 3 DOORS, wow advanced mathematics

Coupes can be 3 door hatches it depends on claissfication. However if it more of a fast back (not as upright) it is generally accepted to be a coupe and only have 2 doors.

A Comaro is a dedicated coupe, not like some models (Vauxhall Astra) which come in 3 and 5 door hatches 4 door saloons (you call them sedans!!!!!).

I was simply making a comment about the Skyline since ricers seem to be held in such contempt around here. You can't call the VW a ricer...I guess you could call it a "rye-cer". Weeeaaak...I need to go to sleep.

although I've seen a few RICED out Golfs, how about Lambo Gulwing doors and a side hinge bonnet.

The Skylines are kick ass, not really for me though as they just look dull and don't sound that nice, there is some where in the UK a 1000bhp bright yellow one, the builders reckon its covered 20,000 miles in that tune?

Exhaust, maybe a wastegate, simple stuff. The other guy has more money than brains and will go all out. That'll cost a fortune, but someone needs to feed the economy and if this dufuss has the cash to blow, let him.

hmmm.....wastegate, , what use is that on a car that is NA 3.2 VR6 15 degrees narrow angle 6 cylinder from Audi???? There is no turbo/SC on them from factory, you must be thinking of 1.8T

Ooops, missed the previous poster's reply.......... Doh. Sweet car though, no matter how you slice it. They sound really nice with a Neuspeed/Borla exhaust.......very tasty blender like noise, especially in an enclosed parking garage

The Problem with the AWD cars is that more of the power is distributed to the front tires and when that car launches at the strip a lot of weight gets shifted to the front and they get a lot of front wheel spin. All really depends on how good of a driver they are. If you cant launch your best well and do what it does best then you might get smoked. Me and my buddy were in his 91 civic DX 4 door. his commuter car and it is a POS and some guys in a riced out Del Sol tried to race us and he got smoked. But anyway the ony thing you have to worry about is your pride. But youll never know until you try. happy racing.

haha. yeah - that DID seem awfully light. seeings how the LX hatch in the previous year was 3200, like you say. maybe FORD was trying to makeup for the lost ten HP by lying to the public about as to keep the loyal mustang fans? they suure fooled me
