Thanks to Blackholehunter for the great vid, we took Walters 99 GT-R out Sunday for some test passes. Car has full interior, power windows, door locks, etc... 500+ci BBF with a 101mm turbo and a Powerglide. This was on 11psi and the first 4 passes ever on the chassis and engine

Enjoy!

Would have been better without the other noise.
That thing picks up speed in grand fashion.

About time! I've been dying to see that car run down the track. I remember when it was running 12s with the SOHC motor and Procharger.

I'd love to bracket race this dude. His BEST light was a .584 and at least 2 were over 2 seconds.

He must not have been concentrating on the tree.

It's a turbo thing. You wouldn't understand.

IMO I think he was just spooling for his licensing passes.

first off, you will NEVER see him bracket racing...guaranteed. It was fun running much faster in the test lanes with the headsup nw cars than any of the dragsters, chassis cars, and bikes in the ghey bracket classes

As you may have not read, these were his first 4 passes...ever...on this chassis and engine combo. Cutting a light was not even a consideration

And the GT-R badges were always a bit of a joke- they are tongue in cheek

Santa may be out....sounds like the motor is not so happy

Walter is busy now with a gear change and swap to drag radials, so I am not sure if he plans to be there on the 18th or not

Never been to a bracket race eh?

We give head starts to slower cars - even like me or you.

To each his own.

I prefer to race against racers and not their wallets. Most of the "heads up" guys are egotists that get more from posting their fast times on the internet than actually racing and competing. Don't get me wrong, I like to go fast too, but I like to compete more.

Some of the best racers I've ever raced against were in slow cars.

You have obviously never been around the headsup races then, the racers are far from egotists. There is some bragging rights to be had, but that comes from having 7 and 8 second capable street cars.

any time there is an incentive to go slower, or hit the brakes, it's not drag racing.

Thanks for the kind words and posting video jeff. It will not be out on the 18th its already and jacks , new gears, tires, and removing sissy bars for vegas. Vulcan lost oil pressure sunday no santa either, think chris is out also.
As for bracket racing i did alot of bracket racing at the sand drags in the 90's, we only got to set dial in once a day, run on set index. Also i would run 2 classes same day one on pro tree other on sportman. Trust me i carried a axe in my car and would cut the f**king tree down and could brake drag with the best
As for throwing money around anyone that knows me , knows it took three years, countless hours of self fab, and many, many, many favors and free bee's
