I prefer to race against real racers. Most of the "bracket" guys are egotists that get more from posting their fast reaction times on the internet than actually racing and competing. Don't get me wrong, I like to go fast too, but I like to compete more.

Some of the best racers I've ever meet were in Heads up cars.

I think you make my point. Just compare the number of racers that participate in bracket programs versus the number who compete in heads-up in any given season.

That's like saying, "It's got huge tires and a tunnel ram, it must be fast!" Grow up chump, it's all a game in the end.

p.s. What does your car run? Why don't you come out and try our Drag Radial class and see what kind of light you can cut on a pro tree?

IMO This type of discussion very well could be replaced with politics or religion and highly subjective.

I appreciate both disciplines of "drag racing" for what they're worth. Different strokes for different folks so it really isn't worth arguing with each other over petty differences in opinion that won't change anytime soon.

come on guys, both types are fun!! Someone who knows their car like the back of their hand and can cut consistent lights and stay spot on their dial is impressive!! On the other hand "heads up" is awesome also, no leads and not as many mind games imo. I built my car to just throw it down the track, over and over. I really couldnt give a **** about r/t's or dial in's. I was just concerned about my 60' and 1/4 time/speed. Now that i'm getting use to my car im gonna try some bracket racing next year.....

Nate, acording to you myspace page, I was making passes down the 1320.....

My car runs 10.80 on the motor and faster with the 200 shot. Looking back at my records, I made over 120 passes this year. Not as many as some years and more than other.

I don't fit most of the heads-up classes anymore becaused I removed the dangerous Chevy II front suspension and installed struts. This car would be at least competitive on a .400 pro tree. My last super pro car would go red on a pro tree without a few hun in the box. BTW - that car was a Camaro with huge tires and a tunnel ram.

See, the last 2 posts will get you mad props- the first post you made had me thinking you were a 15 year old punk kid. We can have our differences (headsup vs bracket) and still be a tight knit family, thats the best part about racing. Pog would be a better person to speak for the rules, but I thought they said the "safety only" (LOL) front ends were just fine.

Saturday is the last headsup race of the season, car count will be low....bring it!

Just an FYI, the race is at Portland International Raceway , if infact your were talking about bringing it to the heads up race. I hope you do make it out, and no harm, no foul, I forgive you. ;-)

All racing sucks! fishing is where it's at!

I have done both and it's truly personal prefrence. I like to see how fast I can make my car go within a given set of rules. It always bugged me when I would run a new personal best and loose because I was " too fast ". That's kind of funny loosing for being too fast in a RACE. As for the money, I have seen lots of guys racing a 10 second stock or super stock car pulling a stacker with a toterhome while I drove my 10 second car to the track. Racing is all expensive.
There are some great bracket drivers and great heads up drivers. To each his own. You can definatly make more money bracket racing than heads up racing. Vegas pays $40.000 to win pro this year and there are million dollar bracket races.

Just got back from Vegas, where Walter ran Extreme Drag Radial. Best run was a 7.87@177 with a 1.30 60ft and a 5.1@143 in the 1/8th. This is at 3660lbs too- a real street car with a cd player (rollin some Rob Bass after the races) and power windows/door locks. Didnt see too many others like it! Jeff kept her under 20psi, a pretty conservative tune compared to Rays car last year. If we could have lost another 160lbs and had a little heavier valve springs it would have been a rocket! Unfortunately we got knocked out in the semi's by the same orange car that took out Ray last year.

Thanks to everyone that went to support the car! AFP's Jeff #1 the tuner, Morry the chef, Scott and Dan for moral support and some great pics/videos.

Haha, that's awesome! I had to rewind it and watch the cartwheel a few times.

I remember seeing that car a few years back in the early stages of the build at the Stangnet/AFP/BOP open house. Needless to say that car has come a long way. I'm not much into drag racing, don't know the diff between heads up and bracket, but I know the effort, time, money, and sacrifices it takes to build something that can be enjoyed by all those involved. Good luck with the build. Can't wait to see it run when it's dialed in.
