ok i'll pick up a cap at the parts store tomorrow.
i was just messing with the timing alittle to see wat it would do and i advanced it three lines above the 10 degree mark(so i'm guessing thats 13 degrees) and now the car is running fine. its not acting like its missing an its not pinging in the higher rpms(yet the last time it pinged it was kinda periodical). i guess i'm goin to leave it like this till i get the h-pipe on and then i'll mess with some more and see wat it does.
