So I was driving the car today and left the Tires Plus parking lot.. I decided to get on it a little for the mechanics that were watching me drive out. I tacked it up fairly good, probably hit the red, and then hit 2nd. Now the car has been driven HARDER than this and has been to the drag strip several times. It's been beaten to hell and back and never had anything go wrong. But this time....I hit 2nd gear and the car starts shaking real bad. Feels like a broken suspension component. I immediately drop out on the throttle and kick it straight to Overdrive. (The car is an auto by the way). As I tip in on the throttle, the car shakes more. It feels like a steady, rhythmic misfire on one cylinder. It shakes real bad. I pulled it over and let it idle and it started pouring blue smoke out of the tailpipes. I had to drive it home, which took about 30 minutes.. When I got it home, there was no smoke anymore, but I checked the oil and I see what looks like either sludge or particles of some kind on the bottom of the dipstick... I haven't dumped the oil yet to look for shavings, but.... The car will still run and idle just fine but it shakes real bad, and there's a slightly funny noise coming from the tailpipes but I can't put my fingers on what it is.

One person I talked to thinks it's a bearing but I doubt it. The motor only has MAYBE 10,000 miles. Another thinks I overrevved it, broke the crab plate and spun a lifter, which ate a cam lobe.

Like I said, I haven't changed my oil yet, and I havent had a chance to pull all my spark plugs and run a compression check on the cylinders... I'll do that whenever I can get my hands on a compression gauge.

What do you guys think? PRAY FOR ME...

Damn bro, thats pretty bad, even worse then stangnets' hosting.
I would complain to people who put engine together if you had a shop do it, bring it to them immediatly.
It is most likely something bad in the bottom end, which is worst fear. Good Luck with it!

It could be a lot of things, just because the motor only has 10,000miles means nothings parts break....

Compression Test and Leak Down test will help, how was the oil pressure? I would not run it anymore, drain the oil look for particles, if you have or can get your hands on a oil filter cutter/splitter you can look inside of it for debris.

Even after driving around for 30 mins like that, the oil press. gauge, even though it's faulty and reads too low, never registered a pressure drop.

I'll be draining the oil probably tomorrow or the day after...and I'll see what I can't get to cut that filter open.

The parts for the motor were all purchased separately and the top-end was put on by the local Mustang shop guy. The bottom end was all together already...it's a factory replacement Ford 2 bolt 302 short block.

What confuses me is, yes I might have overrevved the motor slightly. BUT I've done it before...and it was BAD at the drag strip. I had the tach hitting 6300 rpms STEADY in 3rd gear. I just don't see why it didn't fail then and now it just died suddenly.
