What is the best short shifter for the 05-07 Mustangs??

I am considering purchasing a short shifter in the near future and I would appreciate any feedback on whats out there.

Steeda Tri-ax is the best IMHO. But it is very expensive.... The best shifter for the money would either be the Pro Five Oh shifter or the Hurst shifter.... There are a lot of ppl on here that like the Hurst.

Hurst

Don't have an opinion on any but the Hurst. I can't afford to try all of em til I find the ultimate. The Hurst was a bit notchy and stiff when it was brand new but after a couple months of driving it feels perfect. I put a T handle on it and that made it just right.

i don't have an 05+ yet, but i was just wondering because i drove one and compared to the 99-04 the shifter was hella short and how much shorter would you want it and what's really the difference between them?

so exactly how much shorter is the hurst shifter than the factory, in the pics it looks to be about the same to me (i know those are pics and that dosent mean too much) but the pro 5.0 or the steeda look to be much beefier and much shorter of a throw to it. i see the pro 5.0 for about $280 or so everywhere and the steeda for the same (except detroit speed shop $250 with the arm, 3 peice i believe)

for those who arent firmiliar with the area, detroit speed shop is owned by livernois motorsports...lots of fast goodies there

the hurst is advertised at 40% shorter throws than stock. you can upgrade to a billet rail with the hurst if you like. its a different part number, and about $209 last time i saw one advertised.

personally, i did not see the need for a billet rail.

I installed over a year ago the steeda unit. I have found that it is better than the stock and a hell of a lot better than the Sn-95's but i still find it notchy and the throws aren't exactly what i would like. i plan on playing with this over the winter time and trying to perfect this.
Unfortunately, i am comparing this aftermarket short throw to a stock 2006 350Z which has incredible short throws.

All in all, it is still better than stock!

Even thought I havn't got a new shifter for the new mustangs but I do have much experiance with shifters since I sell them and I have used most of the shifters. In my opinion I would go with the Steeda shifter if you want a nice stiff spring and a good throw, or you can go the pro 5.0 shifter which has a super short throw but the spring is lighter than the steeda, it is all how you drive and what is more confortable to you. Definitely do not go with the B & M they are casted and they wear out really fast. I have heard good things about Hurst lately on the new mustangs but the shifters for the older body style the hurst was junk compared to the pro5.0 and the steeda.

Hey I work for pro 5.0 and the reason why our shifter and Steedas shifters are more expensive is because our shifters are more expensive to make. We both use billet components through out. Our shifters are made to shift better 50,000 miles from now. We even use anodized steel on all of the wearable parts that take the most abuse. We also use a highly porous Teflon material for our center ball. It is the same material that doctors use for hip replacements because it is sooo durable. The Quality of the material also makes it self lubricating. It is permeated with Lucas grease. It took us 2 years just to decide on the best grease to use. We pride ourselves on making the best and we also commend Steeda for coming out with ever better products that help us push ourselves to the limit of technology, Materials, and craftsmanship.
