what long tube for our cars?

what are our choices for long tubes? Of course MAC (which I hear are a PITA to install and are not that great) and then BBK which I have also heard bad things about. Why do they give the 87-93 guys all the choices? Arent there any other brands with a decent rep and easier install?

I have the bbk ones and they fit great. just make sure what ever one you get has a one peice flange. for that reason i would stay away from mac because they don't have the one peice flange.

They will warp because they have no single flange, and the non-coated ones will rust to hell. Stay away from mac headers.

You always hear bad stuff about Mac.

In my case my lt's & pipe was no trouble to install at all and the fit is fine with nothing touching anything.

I was even able to tweek the stock dipstick tube just a little and use it.

In my case, I had no probs at all with the Mac stuff and its been right at two and a half years ago since I put everything together.

I've had no probs of any kind with the exhaust stuff......no lost bolts, blown gaskets, no nothing.

the real problem comes when you have to take your headers off and then put them back on. they can warp with out the one peice flange. I am speaking from experiece. i had the old design bbks that didn't have a one peice flange and they warped bad.

I got mac l/t. They fit perfect and look good to boot. Any long tube you put in a sn95 is going to be work to put in. Theres only so much room to work with.just my .02

If you want a good fit and quality, tally up the $550-800 for a set of Kooks custom headers.

My BBK were very poor in quality and fit, I still haven't figure out why they're hitting my tranny cross-member

I've had BBK for about 9 years with no problems.

My only regret was to get ceremic, and not chrome.

Well you can spend $500-$800 on some kooks or get some BBK's for $200. You get what you pay for.

there is nothing wrong with the bbk's. and they aren't $200 they are closer to $400 with the ceramic.

Mac LTs here, had off 3-4 times...np
Coating is crap...why i sent mine to JetHot.

I ran MACs for several years... The coating is crap and I would JET-HOT coat them!! But, it was a royal pain to reinstall with the individual flanges, I have done it many times... it works better with a wife with small hands to get in there. Now I run BBK and the install and reinstalls are much easier with the single flange. Plus I opted for the JET-HOT coated ones.

What he said.....I run Mac LTs/Prochamber and no complaints...mine been on/off 5 times or so...
I'm not sure I get the flange thing...Kooks even run separate flanges so that kinda blows the solid flange theory for me....
These things are jigged up with all the bent tubes, then add the flanges, collector to boot and then weld away...thats alot of room error...manfacturing tolerances thing...
How many pairs of LTs can you weld up in a day kinda thing.... Depending on your budget...Mac/BBK should do the trick...

Ceramic coating....That I would do. They look great and help retain the heat for your o/2 sensors...which the LTs are going to put downstream further...These are chrome and will Blue up pretty damn quick...Get Ceramic.. Once they heat tint, theres no going back...

Yea, I had to heat wrap my MACs to minimize the heat in the engine bay... they were melting my energy suspension motor mounts... Have had no issues with heat since swapping out for ceramic coated headers.

There's nothing wrong with SOME BBK's. Others like mine are very poor in quality and BBK won't back it up.

I've got mac's lt's, no problems w/install (about as hard as other companies I would assume), I've had them off twice, so far no problems. (Though they don't look that great)I just didn't have enough money to get other brands,

Random Bit to add. With my BBK's I even got the stock dipstick tube to work. Just needed to add that since I fought with it for hour or so before it worked right!

If you have the money go Kooks or Bassani - Bling Bling.

However, I went with the Mac 1 5/8" Ceramic Coated long tubes. They work great and look nice.

Hey RIO 5.0 - did you get your car dyno'd with the Pro Chamber on ? I did the LT's and the ProChamber, but my motor temp jumped up 30 degrees. Did you have any issues like that ?

I put my Bassani O/R X-pipe back on and the temp dropped back to normal and it seem like I didn't loose any hp/torque. SOTP felt like I gained in the mid to high end.

call me crazy, but I read in Brothers supply that BBK long tubes don't fit AODE trans. is this true?
