what kind of chip would be good for a 96 cobra with little performance mods. i will put gears and some bolt on stuff
sooner or later but nothing major.

i read about it and it looks like i can use it on the cobra and my 02 f-150 with the 5.4L . is that possible. or will i loose the stock programming.
the reason im asking is because a friend has an f-250 and the programmer replaced his stock settings but saved them into the programmer in case he had to put them back.
The programmer is kind of vehicle specific. You would need to return the pcm calibration back to stock on the cobra and possibly you may need to send it back to SCT to load a F-150 program on it before you could use it on your truck.
SCT is the best tuner friendly chip. My 96 runs way better with the SCT than it did when I had the Autologic. The idle was improved, throttle response improved, the car had more power in low and mid RPM. My 96 Cobra, has awesome driveability, you don't even know the car is as fast as it is unless you mash the pedal. Also, the gas mileage is better than in my almost stock 97. SCT is the way to go!!
