So yesterday, after it had poured all night at work, i got in my car, started it up just fine, and drove to a buddy's house to give hima chance to check if new parts had come in... anyway, i got back in my car ...and it would not start... just a clicking noise ...it seemed to be the battery, but i wasnt sure... since it's a stick, i push-started the car and drove it home... where it STILL wouldnt start on its own. this morning, i went to check out what was wrong with it, and it seemed to be the battery, since none of the lights were coming on or anything... again, i push-started the car into my garage, letting it run so maybe my alternator could charge the battery (if it wasnt the one causing the problem, that is) ...i turned the car off, and tried to start it again with the same outcome as last night... again, i push-started the car, and put it back in my garage... i tried turning it off one more time, to see if the problem had fixed itself... and when i went to turn on my car again, it did... flawlessly ... i tried it a few more times, and it started just fine... i even waited a few hours, and it STILL started just fine...

my car is now working again, but i dont want to be stranded next time it rains and there are no inclined roads or parking lots anywhere... i would rather fix the problem now...

but i dont know whats wrong with it!!!

+1 on checking the battery cables, both the terminals at the battery for tightness and cleanliness but also where the wires enter the terminals. Looks for corrosion, broken strands etc.

If it continues to happen and there doesn't seem to be a bad connection, its most likely the starter solenoid.

From the OP: "...since none of the lights were coming on or anything..."

Not the starter solenoid.

Bad ground. Clean the terminals with a wire brush and buy new battery clamps($7 tops for heavy duty ones)

Sounds like moisture got to the terminal from the rain and gave it the bad connection. Had the same issue with my truck (don't drive the stang in the rain) every time it rained.
