every summer i normally spend around $1500 on my car because im still in high school and i get to work more during summer resulting in more $$$. im starting my planning for what i want to do this summer and what order to do it in. i was thinking that first i would install some 3.73's, a programmer of some kind, a 75mm. throttle body and upper plenum, maybe some LT's and short x-pipe(want but thought i should wait until i get some new heads or a s/c) or some subs and amp. i just want the baddest car in the parking lot my senior year(minus the richs kids' 350Z and GTO) your advice to lead me to a much badder all around car for around $1500 would help out alot.

Screw the 3.73's and go 4.10's.

Maybe think of cams too

Get rid of the 4x4 look & make it handle better. Get lowering springs, struts & shocks, & caster camber plates. & then to give you more punch get 4:10's, & a tune. I think all of this will benefit you more then a throttle body & plenum.

I went with 3.73s from the start and they suck. There wasn't much of a difference. I have 4.10s in my garage, and one day I'll put them in.

Gears would definitely be the first thing to do. You already have 3.55's, so go 4.10's if you are going to bother changing them. Doesn't look like you have a shifter, so maybe that would be good next. I would do longtubes and the mid-pipe after that, but make sure you have the funds for install if you can't do it yourself. Gears should run around $400 with parts and install. Good set of longtubes and mid-pipe will be at least $500 and install will be pretty expensive.

If it were my car, I'd do the gears and maybe a new cat-back if you want a different sound. Then I would do a stereo system or suspension. I just think you get more bang for your buck that way. Especially if your looking to have the most impressive car, who is going to care about longtubes except you?

I agree, gears and a chip, if you have an auto then get a new TC with a higer stall speed. That with the gears and the chip will give you the most bang for your buck. Long tubes will help make the car sound bad ass. Cams and heads gets expensive, but an agresive cam sounds sweet.

for an auto/or manual 4.30's or 4.10's that and the hand held tuner. i would also suggest subframes

as far as cams..... (personal) i would wait since there are 3 intakes out there now
the trickflow intake, typhoon and the hardballer. ive yet to see articles (dyno numbers) on the hardballer and the trickflow.

PM me when you wanna get rid of those 3.55's. my 3.90's are too much gear. i'm hitting the rev limiter in the 1/4 now.

Most badass car in the parking lot senior year eh? That was me a few years ago, but thats not saying much because most of my classmates were into trucks

Anyway, I say lose the mufflers, get some 15" drag wheels and some fat ass street/strip tires (MT ET Streets or something), and a 125 shot of nitrous. If you still have a little money left, have your brother put in a new 31 spline setup. And if you still have money left (its your senior year man, find some... not everybody gets the chance to say they have the coolest, fastest car in school) get a nasty sounding cam, so everyone knows when you pull in every morning.

The Z will be a joke, and I bet you'll even smoke the GTO.

I drove one of those LS2 GTO's & thats a Fast car. Faster than my Mach 1 by far, & WAY faster than an 99-04 GT. Its not the best lookin GTO, but theres no way he will beat it in a race without a s++tload of mods. Good luck!!!.....PS, your lucky to even have a Stang in high school, I had an 1984 300zx for my first car...

Well they do have 85 hp over a Mach1, and 140 on a GT. 140-125=15, and he'll have traction.

Rougly of course. Mach1's are underrated, GTO's are probably overrated, and 125 shot doesn't = 125hp. But still, I bet he whoops up on the "rich kids".
