Alright, here's what's up. I just scored a good 351 block, that's been bored .030 over, magnifluxed, and stress releived. I'm just kinda torn between building it as a 408, or a 392. So far, price between the two seem to be the same, but I'm curious to anyone experience with either one. THe only friend I have that has a big stroker like that is a 408, and it gets sideways in 3rd with 3.55's. It's awful cool to be able to get it $hi++ey at 65 mph. Whatever I do, I plan on pirating my heads, my intake(with a new lower), and probably stepping up on cam size. Opinions?

With those 185s I would stay with a 392. I am kinda biased though.

Why go 393 when you can go 408??? Your going to have to notch the block for both so I'd say go with the 408 by all mean's. Depending on the rest of your combo the 185's will hamper the true potential of a Windsor stroker, but you will still make tone's of power. Infact on a street engine the 185's would actually work great on 408. I've seen a 408 with Out of the Box AFR 185's, 10.1:1 Compression, 282HR Comp Cam, Victor Jr. Intake and a 750 Speed Demon make a little under 490HP at the flywheel, which is awesome for a street cruiser or even a weekend warrior. Of course 205's would be the ultimate way to go, but I woudn't be scared to build a 408 with 185's at all. It all depend's were you want your power band. Obviously the 205's are going to flow better and make more high RPM Power, while 185's on a decent 408 are ging to give you one hell of a torque monster. Overall DropTopR I'd say go with a 408 and your 185's, and you will have one hell of a mean street engine.
Infact I talked to AFR awile ago and they said you could go either way on a mild 408 in term's of 185's or 205's. It's a matter of personal preference and were you want your power band.
