My alternator seems to do the job just fine will I gain anything by swaping to a 3G or is that normally for if I want a big sound system. Also my car has no power options except power lumbar.

Sounds like you don't need it then. Just wait for yours to go out then get a 3g, they generally last longer and have full potential. yes they help with large stereos and all kinds of goodies. I bought the 200amp version since i am running an Electric Water Pump, a large electric fan, all the accessories like A/C power windows and a big stereo.

You should be fine for now. Buy something else for now.

I'd say that if you want an E-fan, it'll be nice. Otherwise, you can probably wait till your stocker craps out, and then upagrade at that time. But if you buy a new 3G online (no core) and install it now, you will have a good 2G to install again if your new 3G needs warranty work done to it.

Wow, I cleared that up huh. I can debate with myself all night long.

I know this FIRST HAND. I don't have my stocker anymore and I didn't leave the wiring intact to use with the stocker and my online one went out and had to send it to Texas for warranty repair. It took 1 week and 6 days to get it back.. THAT SUCKS

I can get them out of my local scrap yard for 35 bucks that's why I was asking. I will put one on when my 2G takes a dump.

Roland, if you can put a 3G in for 35 bucks plus wiring, I'd do it now. Then you have a spare (read Nick's post). My line of thinking was that you were gonna spend 300 dollars (Canadian. ) for a new alt.

Or send it to me so I have a spare.

Nick, it sounds like you had a Boss alt from Alterstart, huh. Sorry to hear that (I have a 160 from them).

Yep... Load Boss from Alterstart... They fixed it for free.. but wanted to charge me 16 bucks for return shipping! LMAO! I got shipping BOTH ways for 20.50! They called saying they needed money to ship it back.. I called back and they were like "There was no return shipper tag in your box, sorry. We need 16 dollars to ship it back" I told them they better go through their trash and find it cause I'm not paying for return shipping again... They called back about 30 minutes later saying they found it... That delayed it another day... Other then that I love the alternator! I knew it was going out cause it started ticking... Rotor went bad (sorta wierd for it to go out.. usually a regulator or brush), and it works fine now!

It sucks when they go out. he is right. I just made myself a ghetto adapter to use the 2G when I sent mine back for work.

I think I might need to go to rehab for ebay. Na it's just I have alot of free time and it's a good time killer to look at ebay plus I'm tryin to build up some credit. I spend about 100 bucks a month on ebay buying little stuff for me or people I know and pay my credit card off right away.

Look for a 94-95 3g.
96` and up 3g`s have a different case and different pulley spacing.
