OK heres all the info, whats up?

Gt-40 intake
65mm throttle body
1/2in Spacer
JLT cold air intake
Mac off road prochamber
Mac catback
stock 5.0 w/210,000 miles

with all these ive noticed a huge difference in power, PI 4.6's arnt even close, my friends 350z cant keep with me either, a well kept 93-95 vett is a hell of a close race where its anyones call, and the same with pre LS1 formula firebirds ect.

dyno read 215rwhp 276rwtq
temp was 93*

now i know i have alot of miles but its never been a problem

I don't know what you were expecting
but
A fresh stocker will lay down around 185-190rwhp

with these mods .........

Gt-40 intake
65mm throttle body
1/2in Spacer
JLT cold air intake
Mac off road prochamber
Mac catback
stock 5.0 w/210,000 miles

It looks about right to me

The intake is your major gain mod for sure :Word:
The rest is small compared to it

When you consider you got over 200k on the clock

I see it as being even more impressive

Ok well I guess your right, I looked around some more and it seems to be more the norm than I thought, but you know how it is when you spent the money and then go to the dyno with high expectations, but yes the intake made the most difference, and who knows the 200k might have been hurting me more than I thought. I think a new engine is in order, with heads and cam, then some kind of power adder

Look for an Explorer motor with low miles.

Good heads
Cheap
More power
Direct drop in (almost)

Yeah, that is about right... Mayeb a few (5-10) HP less than I would have expected...

Do gears when you can afford them (by best mod so far I think) then when the engine goes go with the explorer motor.. that will set you back about $1500 ($500ish for engine, $500ish for needed items, $500 tune)... You can do it for less but not a whole lot...

Now that a few more members have given their thoughts I wanted to
more clearly define my previous thinking

You talk about money spent for so little gain

Believe me ... Been there & done that ... I all too well understand

I listed your mods to the motor again for reference

1) Gt-40 intake
2) 65mm throttle body
3) 1/2in Spacer
4) JLT cold air intake
5) Mac off road prochamber
6) Mac catback

#1 As was said above ... most productive gain ... about 15rwhp
#2 If you got any gain at all ... less than 5rwhp
#3 Not really a gain mod
#4 If it was cool when you dynoed ... a small gain
but ... at a temp of 93 ... most likely ... no gain
#5 This would be your next largest gain mod ... about 10rwhp
#6 Catbacks are about sound ... not hp gain ... less than 5rwhp

With 200k plus miles ... a loss of 5% to 10% would not be unreasonable

Here is how my math rwhp values look when I added them up

190 rwhp stock - 5% loss = 181 rwhp

181 rwhp + 35 rwhp from mods = 216 rwhp

I agree with Grady 100% but I think he planned these numbers to work so well...

I will throw out to look at the tmoss site, he has a table with a good summary of dyno runs and for the most part I would have guessed 220-225 HP and 275-290 tq, BUT then it was 93', not good for power at all.

Go back in the fall and the numbers will be MUCH better...

I knew somebody would say something along those lines
Try to be totally honest ... and ... Look what happens
A tough crowd for sure ... with ... its share of tomato chunkers

Hey ... I know your just funnin with me a bit

Out of all I proposed
As I see it ... the intake to me kinda falls in the most gray area

A gain of only 15 seems a bit conservative at first
but
Consider it is working with untouched E7's

Even if he only went to the next level with some OEM 40's or 40p's

The air flow would be up enough to add something like 5rwhp more
to the gain of that intake

Also ... note that pull was done with a STD cal
so
If it was in SAE ... the values would most likely be less

Stock GT 5-speeds are putting down about 188hp and 253lbft to the rear wheels. You have about 27hp/23lbft more than stock which, I reckon, is right on the mark.
The GT40 intake doesn't yield anything like 15hp; more like 7hp. Add 5hp for the mufflers, 5hp for the Prochamber, 7hp for the CAI, 3hp for the TB, and you're there.
The temp. doesn't matter because the dyno numbers should already be corrected for atmospheric conditions (elevation, barometric pressure, air temperature, humidity).

Thanks for the words of reassurance, lol its what I needed, so on the bright side, Ive got some more power, a cool looking engine bay and an exhaust system that I love to listen to, and after some research and some talking to friends, Ive got some gt40p heads, an e-cam and some new forged pistons, so in a few months expect a better dyno

your numbers are right for what you have and everyone has already explained it lol but the only mod thats anything on your list is the intake...and for a high miliage car thats not bad for all it has....try searching older threads to find mods that are basically useless so you dont spend tons of money on parts that do nothing for a basically stock engine...like the throttle body...great on a built engine...almost useless on a stocker

Sorry to burst your bubble but the race in question took place on an Army airfield, which is longer than any little 1/4 mile strip and under direct supervision of the airfield ems and fire dep. so... maybe you should ease off the judgement trip

why do you need to go that long and that fast?? thats just damaging your engine ?? i feel a 1/8 mile is to short but a 1/4 is fine

Thats like asking someone why build a 400hp engine instead of a 250hp engine? Its because I like it, its fun, and if you have never topped out your speedo your missing out lol.

wait a minute, Ur saying a cold air intake, (Which in my opinion is pretty useless) would put down the same numbers of the Gt40 intake.... no way.....if that cold air intake could gain u 7 hp...then that gt40 could give u 7000.
