if you get a wells from autozone, I believe you have to install it pointing the opposite direction than a stock one, but that's all I know

Does it matter which way the stock ones are pointed? I notice the one on my 5.0HO is pointed the opposite way of the other 5.0s I see in the junkyards...

I wouldn't think so....wouldn't hurt to put it in the way it should be. what wat is your plug facing...driver side or passenger side. I think (by memory) the plug is on the pass side

My Wells IAC points the same way the factory one did. I've had it for about 3 years with no problems.

It doesnt matter which way its pointed, it either allows airflow between the 2 holes or it doesnt. Thats how it works.

Some of the parts store units indeed have a piece of paper in them which indicate to orient them a certain way.

If a new controller has said instructions, I'd follow them.

Good luck.

I think it does matter because the Wells and other non-Ford brand IACs are made to work on both the low-performace 5.0L V8 that typically came in the Crown Vics and Merc's which usually have the intakes pointing in the opposite directon than the 5.0 H.O
