Iv got H/C/I, low kms on my car, and it runs great its just that my oil pressure needle sits just high on the "O" and sometimes between the "O" and "R" in "NORMAL".

I know stock gauges are crap, but does this seem low to you guys?

Should I be worried, any tests I could do? I think I could use new plugs and a fuel filter but thats about it.

What about getting a new oil pump, what about a "HIGH PRESSURE" or "HEAVY DUTY" one??? Are they hard to install?

Thanks!!

Mine sits about 2/3's of the way up and on my last car (foxbody) the gauge would sit really low. Personally i wouldnt worry about it, but if you want to be careful then you can always get an aftermarket autometer oil pressure gauge.
Changing the oil pump isnt "hard", its just very very time consuming.

Mine sits much higher on the "NORMAL" than yours. I think it's around the "A".

I don't know how to verify whether or not you have enough pressure. Your gauge could be broken, of the oil pressure switch could be bad. Someone here will chime in.

If you decide to replace the oil pump, you need to remove the oil pan to replace the oil pump. But like said before, it isn't very difficult. You just need a new oil pan gasket.

This will actually be good for the car, because you will get all of the nasty oil that sits on the bottom of the pan. Before you put a new gasket on the oil pan, it's imperative to get all of the old gasket off. It is a PITA; You will need a good scraper. A gasket remover spray helps too.

Mine sits around the O also. I have a electrical aftermarket gauge & I get 25-30 at idle and 55-60 when cruising. So I know the stock gauge is off. As long as it moves I'm not worried. Sometimes my stock oil pressure gauge goes up to the A, don't know why?

Mine never goes up that high it only goes from O to the middle of the R at the highest. How many miles till the oil pump usually needs replacement?

Are there any tests I can do to see if my oil pump is weak besides installing a new oil pressure gauge? Is it hard to install a gauge?
