I see everyone whom wants to get to the 400hp club does a KB swap for the original saleen sc, why not install cams? unless my thinking is wrong wouldn't a set of cams like VT stage II blower cams get me there? it's surley cheaper

here is what I currently have. saleen SCII, lightning 90mm maf, 42lbs injectors, cobra fuel pump, dr gas x pipe, chicane ripp, and chicane pulley, sct tune.

The main reason guys switch is the limiting factor on the Saleen S/C is the intake manifold. The KB comes with a much better design, I have heard guys say it alone is worth almost 100HP over the Saleen. Seems high to me, but I don't see many arguments when that number is thrown around.

I made 155rwhp more after the KB swapp, with only 2psi more (9psi KB vs 7psi stock eaton...I should say heat-on...).
You get the idea...

When you look at getting a set of cams, you will always be trading off something for something else. You want to get past 400rwhp. A set of cams could do that for you, but you would trade off some driveability for that extra hp(your car will idle rougher than usual). I think a set of cams are a great idea. Some mild cams might better suit your goal without giving up driveability if you look at other parts to help your combo. One of the problems with the S2 is heating. I purshased the Chicane intercooler and I could tell a huge difference in overall power. You can also look at aftermarket heat exchangers to keep it cool. Putting the 2 together hasn't been done yet and could offer huge gains. Also, valvetrain upgrades are avaliable for our cars now and i've heard of no one using them. A s/c cobra gained 45rwhp in an article I have in MM&FF. Springs, studs, and retainers can all be had for around $325, I think! I will be going to the dyno soon and I will post my results with the chicane intercooler. Hope this helps. Scott

It's a safer 400 hp with a KB and less problems arise as a result of pushing a KB to 400 hp, unlike a "Heaton."

with the kb you have much more room for improvemt upping pulley sizes, with the eaton 12 psi and ur pretty much maxed out, maxing maby 330, and over spinning it alot, also the kb run way cooler and is much more efficent then the eaton, flows more air due to a better enginered intake, just all around better and way more efficent, and give's room for lots of improvment
