Overcompensation for an inferiority complex? Status? Peer pressure? Because they can? Who cares?

In certain socio-economic circles, driving a domestic will make you an outcast. You have to drive one of the high-priced spreads to get any respect.

Because they can & if I could I would also, but I would be happy with a $150,000 + Ford GT.

Why do people pay $30,000 for a Cobra when they can get to work & the grocery store in a $500 Pacer?

To you, 30 grand isn't too much. To them (with an $#%^ load of money), 250 grand isn't that much. .... So why not get exactly what you want.

If money was not an option, i'd be driving a Murcielago Roadster. It goes much faster than a production Mustang and it has AWD.

Why are you driving a 20-30k Mustang when you could be driving a used Vette that goes faster? Probably the same reason I am, but the question has no definitive answer.

I asked a guy one time with one of those V10 Diablos ( or V12 I never keep up with imports lol) What it does in the 1/4 and he told me he didn't know, the car is made to turn and not go straght. I thought to my self... dude this is Texas it has flat out straght roads where are the turns Anyways I think it depends on the class of racing your into, I'm sure you reach a point where a 20-30k car doesn't cut it. Then you have put more money into it or upgrade to 40-60k cars like a Saleen or Cobra R etc. In some cases the class may require a newer or more stuff on your car and its easier to just buy a more costly car. At our last OPRR we had only 2-3 Mustangs and the rest was Vettes / Vipers. Its easy to get a car to do 100 mph but to maintain that for a 100+ miles is another story. What I'm getting at is you maybe just looking at 1/4 racing while these guys may be SOLO I/ OPRR racers etc. Its nothing against Mustangs they are a great car and when I move up in speed/class I will switch over to a SVT/Saleen. I'm guessing in my racing when people starts doing 150+ they usualy go Vettes, S.S, Vipers, and Exotics.

Now my question is why did that same guy with the Diablo spend 1 mill on a McClaran F1 Some people has more money than they know what to do with I guess It must be nice

My friends think I'm mental because I say I'd take a 2000 Saleen S351 over a Ferrari or a Lambo. Who cares!! I always say what would I be happier in? I guess they don't get it. I told them that if I had the 250K that people pay for some of those vehicles, I'd buy me a Saleen S351, a 2003 Supercrew F150 with the FX4, and a house and maybe a 96-98 Cobra for a daily driver. I just wish I had that much to have to make a decision like that.
