Ether 1) your getting scammed and its not paypal. 2) you went over your monthly limits and they want to you verify. 3) someone filed a claim against you

Paypal did the same thing to me for no reason, to my girlfriend also. Do some research on paypal, you'll see there are plenty of people out there that have lost hundreds to thousands because of paypal. I filled out all the information they needed and i still didnt get access again. Wait about 6 months I believe it is and they atleast let you take out the money thats left in there. I have a account again but its only linked to my debit card so there is never any cash actually in the account.

I highly doubt that you were scammed by PayPal.

That's not what they're in business to do.

What is more likely is that someone scammed you THROUGH PayPal or some error in judgment on your part caused you trouble.

To the original poster...

Give them nothing without verifying the Who, What, When, Where, and Why. There are a BUNCH of look-alike scam artists out there that try and extort personal information from you by pretending that they are an agency or part of an agency that they are not.

You received an email from a scam artist claiming to be Paypal. I get about 10 of them a week.

Never use the click here to go to Paypal feature in any email you get that says Paypal on it. The scammers substitute a fake link that connects you their scam site. They want your personal information so that they can steal your identity. Always type Paypal’s address in the Internet Explorer address box, that way you are always going to Paypal’s site, not a scammer.

The way to check the authenticity of an email is to right click on the link that says Paypal or click here to got to Paypal in the email. Then click Properties. You will see some other address other than Paypal.com

No, I got scammed by Paypal itself. This was a few years ago when all of the class action lawsuits were going against them for fraud, bad business practices, etc.. I joined in on one of the class action lawsuits and they reviewed my evidence and found paypal to be in error. I eventually got a 1,000$ check back from the lawsuit.

It's just a very poor company, I would never do business with them again.

Wow, you guys are God damn stupid. Ever read the SPOOF WARNINGS that eBay and Paypal plaster all over their sites? Don't you find it strange that they are asking for your social security number, mother's maiden name, etc out of the blue? I seriously hope you guys didn't fall for it, because if you did, you deserve to lose the money.

I know one of the things Paypal says regarding real v spoof emails is that the real emails from paypal will address you by your whole name in the greeting to where the spoof emails just generically address you as customer, paypal user, ect...They also say that they will never ask for any of that info in an email.

paypal will never send an email out asking for personal info, also if it is paypal you address bar will have http; at the beginning. I have been using paypal for 6 years also sent a guy nearly 2,000 through them with no problems..
