I decided to replace my very old coil for my 302, 9.5:1, Alum heads. NAPA sold me a NAPA ECHLIN #907. It says on the coil "Use with External Resistor" What is that? I thought I could just use this as a straight replacement. Opinions?
yes it will work just fine as long as no one has messed with your wiring harness under the dash. the stock ford system uses a resistance wire (Pink wire) and they all have it and that's all you need for that coil. as long as the car hasn't had an MSD box or anything like that installed, which would require bypassing the pink wire, then your fine. if the car has been running all this time on a regular coil then no one has bypassed the resistance wire in the past so the replacement coil will be a basic bolt on.
