Im sick and tired of having 25lbs of copper under my dash. . . it is a carb car so the EFI harness is already gone. . . . The only thing i really need is my headlights, blinkers, rear lights and power windows. . . everything else is gone! I dont know if its possible but does anyone have an easy way of going about doing this. . . . there are just so many connectors and switches under the dash that have NO USE!

Hate to break the news to you but do what i did.

Break out the wiring diagrams. Draw on paper, label or mark what you need, and be patient. It isnt something your going to get done in a coupla nights.

I took about a couple of nights before i tore into the wire and did nothing but study the diagrams and marked what i would keep and what i would take out. Plan it out and make steps to complete.

Im guess i could explain in detail a little better! sorry

I figured out what i needed to keep and drew out every connector under the dash (most all are different shapes) and drew out wires comeing out and labeled the color of each. I also traced EVERY single wire and found out where it went. Note i did have a couple things not work like you did and found out that grounds did tie together to make that system work. Perhaps the case with your headlights.

If you are not sure about what you are cutting do NOT cut it. Label it with different color electrical tape like yellow to mean unsure.

Ill tell ya again bro, you gotta study the whole thing and plan it out.

looks like maybe you snipped the wrong wire. I bet the easiest way to do it would be to go buy a universal painless wireing harness and gut yours right out and wire theres in.

one more thing:

Haynes wiring diagram has shapes of all the connectors which is helpful. Thats why i drew them out to seperate it out on paper
