I just received my "5.0 Mustang" magazine in the mail today and while flipping pages I came apon an interesting article. It is on page 32, and the October issue for those people out there that have the same magazine. The title is " '05 GT production". The article states that 70% of all mustangs made last year were GTs. This is a pure shock to me considering that you see 4 or 5 V6 models to every 1 GT you see on the street.

Also, on the bottom of the page it says Andy Benedict, Executive Director of Global Facilites, hinted to the 5.0 magazine that"... more mustangs on the way with Shaker hoods, Boss packages, and more horsepower..."

Can this be accurate information?

Doesn't it say "70% SOLD" not made?

Not accurate, keep in mind magazines like 5.0 are in the business of selling copies, not getting their facts straight.

Facts:

Initial production was 32% GT, 68% V6.

In Feb 05 when the vert was introduced Ford changed the #s to 38% GT, 62 % V6.

For 2006 MY, Ford is staying with 38% GT, 62% V6 production mix.

And don't confuse sales with production, if 70% of sales were GT there would be V6s stacked 3 high filling every dealer's lot.

About all I'd belive is that 70% of all special order Mustangs are GTs.

I see 6s every once in a while, but GTs I very rarely see around here..
even the dealer's lot was populated by 6s. (2005/2006)

lots of 03/04 GTs on the road around here though.. and there's a high military population in Hampton Roads so it's a popular vehicle here.
