If you place an X-plan order, just make sure that you and the dealer sign Ford's New Vehicle Purchase Plan/Lease Option Customer/Dealer Agreement and Pricing Sheet.

It obligates the dealer to deliver the vehicle (and obligates you to accept). It also specifies the X-plan pricing.

What damn dealer has 26 on the lot? No chance.

Saturday I was talking to my SAlesman and he said that the last GT they were getting for the year is on the showroom floor, and that they are only taking orders for '06 GT's and then only a limited number were allowed by Ford. There will be no x-plans nor incenstives. Pure craziness. I'll just get an '03 Cobra.

Just FYI --

Galpin Ford has 45 Mustangs on the lot --all V6!! Palm Springs Ford has 44 on the lot -- 31 V6, 8 GT vert and 5 GT. Ford really screwed the Pony with their V6 vs. GT production. I'd look for incentives real soon on the V6.

Sgt. RedLine,
Look in Indiana to find X-plan pricing on mustangs...hint/hint...

Also as for Galpin, I have heard very bad things in my past life when I was on the list for the Lotus Elise...I am pretty sure they screwed over plenty of people...

Here in OH, my dealer is finished with '05 GTs and Verts. He can't take an order for an '06 yet, but has a waiting list that he estimates will fill his entire first 3 months of '06 GT allotment.

So, for the near term, even '06s look to be in short supply.

Try Santa Margarita Ford

In Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. They have a few GT's left, Saleens, Verts, etc. I talked to the Internet guy and he said that they would honor X-plan when the time came to order an '06. He also told me that their dealership has a policy against charging OVER MSRP on any vehicle except maybe the 07 Shelby next year. I have heard a lot of good things about these guys, and they sell a lot of Mustangs, so...

Also, he told me that the most plausible scenario to be at the front of the '06 line from his perspective would be for someone to order an '05 now (on X-plan) and then convert to an '06 if and when the '05 builds are all spoken for. I tried to get him to quote me a "ballpark" figure on an '06 and he declined, saying he couldn't give me an exact figure except to say that traditionally the prices go up by about 3% on average every model year (he quoted me a bunch of scenarios, but this one is a good average).

Look, like MyBlueOval said, the bottom line here is that I think we should keep a running list in our collective back pockets of the "good guy" dealerships and the not-so-good guy dealerships. Spend your hard earned money at a place that appreciates your business enough to not gouge when they get the chance.

I've never dealt with Galpin but I will warn you to stay away from Sunrise Ford. I sent an email asking about an 05 and specifically said "contact me by email, not by phone." The internet sales guy called me almost immediately (within an hour after sending the email), and then several more times over the corse of the next week. Plus he sent me email everyday.

He was pushy and rude and told me basically "I can't give you a price until you come in" and went on and on. I finally told him to quit bothering me or I'd talk with his supervisors.

Now, on to the "good" guys in SoCal. Advantage Ford in Duarte had a very nice internet sales manager who was never pushy and (at least on the surface) said he would find me the car that I wanted. The only reason I didn't buy from him is that I ended up at Star Ford in Glendale, and they had a ton of 05's on the lot, more V6's than GT's, but there were quite a few GT's. I found two with the exact package I was looking for, so all I had to do was pick the color.

I don't know if they do any X-plans because, frankly, I'd never even heard of that until after I bought my stang and was cruising the internet looking for boards. Still not exactly sure what it is, but I assume it's some kind of employee/friend discount thing.

Anyhow, I hope my input comes in handy for someone.

X-Plan allows business partners of Ford to get discounts on the Ford Family of vehicles. For a GT buyer, it means about $1,500 to $2,000 off MSRP.

From Fordpartner website:

The Partner Recognition Program offers substantial savings on most Ford Motor Company vehicles. Partner pricing varies by brand, as follows:

X-Plan Pre-determined price based on Ford Employee ("A-Plan") price.
The X-Plan price is noted on the dealer invoice (except for
Land Rover and Jaguar)

Ford/Mercury A-Plan + 4% + $150
Lincoln A-Plan + 4% + $250
Volvo A-Plan + 2%
Land Rover Invoice plus 4% of Invoice (excluding Regional Advertising Group fee and destination & delivery fee).
Jaguar Invoice plus 4% of Invoice (excluding Advertising Association Fee and destination & delivery fee).

For specific vehicle plan pricing, visit the Vehicles & Pricing page. Pricing of in-stock dealership inventory is available for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealerships. Detail pricing sheets are available for Volvo, Mazda, Jaguar and Land Rover.

The dealer is required to provide you with a true copy of the factory invoice showing the Partner Recognition Program price in the box labeled "X Plan"(not displayed for Land Rover or Jaguar, labeled as "S Plan" for Mazda). You should also receive a complete and signed New Vehicle Purchase Plan and Pricing Sheet showing each item and its price (form slightly different for Volvo and Mazda). This form is not provided for Jaguar or Land Rover vehicles. Do not sign this form if it is blank or if you do not understand how the price was calculated. To view or print a copy of this form, click on the links found on the main page of "How it works" under "Forms".

The "A" or "Z" Plan price is the amount shown in the box labeled "A Plan" near the bottom of the factory invoice (not displayed for Jaguar and Land Rover, labeled as "S Plan" for Mazda). Even though the box is labeled "A Plan", the "Z" plan price is the same. The New Vehicle Purchase Plan price includes advertising, transportation, dealer preparation and Company administrative fees. The dealership may not charge extra for these items. Click here to see an example of a Ford dealer invoice and where the A/Z plan price is located on the document. Click here to see an example of a Ford dealer invoice and where the X Plan price is located on the document.

The dealership may also NOT charge separately for document preparation or other administrative services incidental to the delivery of the vehicle on a Partner Recognition Plan sale. These expenses are considered to be part of the dealer's normal cost of doing business for which the dealership is compensated by the commission paid. Sales under the Mazda S-Plan may be subject to document preparation and/or other administrative services fees. Please review all fees with your Mazda sales consultant and be sure you understand and agree prior to completing a sale.

The dealership may charge any price negotiated between the dealer and the customer for undercoating, dealer installed options, extended service contracts and other items or services that add value to the vehicle, provided such items are priced separately and listed individually on the retail buyer's order and the New Vehicle Purchase Plan and Pricing Sheet.
Note: Partner Recognition customers may not accept items or services as an inducement or reward in connection with an "X Plan" sale or lease.

The customer is responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes, license and title fees.

The Ford Partner Recognition customer is entitled to X-Plan pricing on eligible vehicles in effect at the time the vehicle was invoiced. Any money refunded to the dealer by Ford Motor Company for price increases occurring after the order is submitted, but before shipment to the dealer, must be refunded to the customer. From time to time Ford Motor Company may offer incentives or rebates. Unless specifically approved and announced by the company, incentives or rebates are not available to New Vehicle Purchase Plan customers. Ask your dealer for details.

The dealership may require the Partner Recognition Program customer to make a deposit when placing a vehicle order. Some or all of this deposit may be retained by the dealership if the customer declines to accept delivery of the product ordered. An agreement in writing should be reached with the dealership concerning the amount of the deposit and the conditions under which it may be retained by the dealership if the transaction is not completed.

Lease transactions may require a refundable security deposit. The security deposit is held until the end of the lease and is refunded, provided that the lease terms have been satisfied. The deposit is usually equal to one month's payment, rounded to the next $25/$50.
* The X-Plan price is printed on the dealer's copy of the new vehicle invoice, which may be reviewed by the participant.

The dealer will show the customer a copy of the invoice to confirm pricing.

Thanks for reminding me! I did talk to the internet guy at Santa Margarita Ford about a Saleen and he seemed honest and helpful. I didn't have extensive contact with him but I can get a feel for the "slime factor" fairly quick. That dealership is a little too far from mi casa. I did consider them for my order but went with a closer dealership.

Happy hunting!

Ignore damnisityellow at your own peril One50andpump.

If your dealer tells you that you have an 06 ordered, he is a liar. If he says he ordered an 05 that will somehow convert to an 06 order, he is most likely lying.

'05 orders don't automatically "turn into" '06 orders and I bet you a hundred dollars your dealer won't feel bound by $29394 when the chips are down and invoice/sticker have been increased for'06.

Damnisityellow has been calling it like it is on this board for quite a while. LISTEN to him and find another dealer who won't lie to you.

Yellow-where have you been? I thought you must have taken a job selling Hyundais because I haven't seen your posts lately.

I am in need of some free advice from a ford dealer--You. I just picked up my redfire gt vert last week which the dealer delivered w/o hassle on x-plan. Car was ordered spoiler delete, but it came w/ a big fat spoiler. I took the car, and they were hoping I wouldn't for obvious reasons, but the sales mgr promised to take it up w/ the gm to see if they would swap trunklids w/ me.

Sales mgr says no can do. I have a copy of the DORA showing the spoiler delete option chosen, so either the order was re-entered incorrectly by a dealer employee or ford ignored it when the car was built. Either way it's not my fault.

If the dealer says bug off what chance do I have w/ ford giving me new trunklid?

I didn't think it was unreasonable to ask them to swap trunklids off another car--it's a big dealership w/ a body shop that would have need of a trunklid w/ spoiler eventually. A little off topic but we are discussing dealers.

Hey Topless, first let me tell you how we would have handled the problem.
When the vehicle arrives off transport, our inventory control manager "checks in" the car for problems, scratches, etc: he would have caught the spoiler, and oredered a trunk lid. When the part arrived he would have had you bring the car to the body shop for installation.
Now, lets say he had a bad day and missed the spoiler. When I delivered the car to you, I would have given you a "WE OWE" ticket, which describes the ordering of parts and installation of same. I would also make note of the problem and how it is being handled on my CSI sheet ( to cover my ass ) which would be signed by a manager and a copy given to you. Again, you would be taken care of to keep our CSI up and to make sure you remain loyal to our store.
You may want to seek legal help, you have a car that obviously came with the wrong parts and the sellar doesnt want to make the needed repairs.

Last word we have from Ford is build date cutoff for 2005 mustangs is June 20.
They will announce sometime around the first week of august that we can start making orders for the 2006 model. But-----What would the Ford reps know??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

When you accepted delivery, you accepted the error. Ford warns buyers to carefully examine the car to make sure it has all the options specified before accepting delivery. So, unless you had the dealer put it in writing that they will get you a new truck lid, and then the dealer turns around and says "bug off", you might be out of luck.

BTW, instead of swapping lids, have the dealer order a factory painted lid. They can, but it takes a bit extra trouble for them beyond simply the normal ordering of a (unpainted) part.
