Engine At the end of my sanity. 92 GT on jack stands for the last 11 years - NO START

I run 42's on my N/A 331 and on the stock fuel system we had to turn it up to 50 psi to get enough fuel on the dyno.
I'm trying to make sense of this.
42's will support 500rwhp with a supercharger, but you needed more 10 more psi with a NA 331?
I've seen 30's stretched past 450rwhp all motor. And i used them on a 347 (and a 302).
It's why i usually say there is no point in 36's on a 302 based engine, not enough for a supercharged setup and more than people need NA.

hi! i got a fox body and thought id join the forums.

Got a smokin' deal, IMO. The engine alone is worth what you paid. The Cobra intake, especially if it's pre-chinesium, is worth $600-800. The 5-lug & Cobra brakes is one of the best things that can be done to make the car more liveable.

Similarly, after ~5 years, I recently got my old H/C/I car back (link). Got it for $3,800 in the Summer of '22. Definitely could have flipped it and made a quick few grand. Instead, I chose to turn it into my daily & an occasional auto-crosser. Now, a few hundred hours of work & many thousands of dollars later I know if I sold it, I'd lose most of the money and all of the labor I've dumped into it, but that's not a problem because it puts a smile on my face every day before & after work. I will continue to dump funds & time into it until it's exactly what I want.

So, good luck to ya. I wish you as much fun as I've had, and hopefully, the struggles with restoration will be minimal. I know the guys on the board will appreciate seeing your progress and with the combined knowledge here, you won't run into much that we haven't already seen. Please start a Progress Thread in the 79-95 Talk Forum, and start with the pics you just mentioned.
i am not sure what chinesium means.

if you love something set it free... my fox body returned to me.

i appreciate all of the feedback. im gonna start by hitting a track day and assess how the car handles. i will get a set of tires before then and i am debating whether or not i should put them on the 17 inch cobra replicas that are on the car or if i should look for a better 16 inch wheel. in my experience replicas havent been very good and i dont see any reason to go 17 over 16 inch wheels.

speaking of wheels and tires, the car already understeers and i dont see any reason to get a wider tire in the rear but i am open to suggestions. do any of you know the max width for your front tire on a stock car? i will look around a bit.

Interior and Upholstery Sound deadening fox interior questions

Doors, trunk lid, cargo floor, trans tunnel, floor panels, firewall, and if you're feeling [really] squirrely, between the roof and headliner.

The cool part is that you don't have to cover every square inch of [any] of those areas to get the effect.

You can leave openings where there are troublesome artifacts in the way. It makes [zero] difference.
For the doors I’m going to want to put the dynamat inside the panel through the access holes so that it’s on the inside of the exterior metal correct?

Interior and Upholstery Sound deadening fox interior questions

I used a panel popping tool and got the wiring off the floor board. Laid the dynomat down then located the holes and cut the dynomat away and reinstalled the wiring harnesses.

I reinstalled the pieces of automotive carpet jute padding which is what I believe you are calling “foam”. This is also glued to the back of the carpet.
Got it. Where did you apply the dynamat? I’m wondering other worthwhile places to put it besides the floor.

Engine Prw rockers, trick flow cam, gt40 heads

Ok more details I'm remembering now. The block is from an 01 mountaineer. Initially had gt40p heads. The heads are the regular gt40 from a 98(?) Mountaineer, something like that. The cam is for a 85-95 mustang 5.0/5.8. I think this is where I got crossed up, too many mixed and matched parts going on here. Can anyone verify or point me towards where I went wrong? Are the heads different at the rocker stud or something?

Engine Engine rebuild suggestions

I can move it up/down a bit.

That's the next thing I wanted to try. If the theory is true, stock ones are 6.248, NAPA sells one that's spec 6.25. Maybe that'll help? though I think there's more slack.

I also read that different manufacturers measure the pushrods differently. There's like 3 ways. I don't want to learn that I spend $200 on a set that has a spec of 6.3 but is actually 6.275 :)
What an awesome community!
