(Shh......He cant see me because he's ignoring me. So this is me,...talking to nobody),......The rod was in the oil pump,...but it fell INTO the engine when he reclocked the dist.
Winner winner chicken dinner . Expensive mistake . But that's how we learn I guess .

I'd be lieing if I said my car didn't have brass fittings on it. They also make great manifold vacuum ports. :p

FYI McMaster-Carr has aluminum pipe fittings on their website and IIRC they offer them in different anodized finishes. It's an inexpensive alternative to brass if you're not into the kitchen sink look.

I'm about to hit the 'buy' button on the shopping cart that's been full for a month on Summit's site. I got paid for the MS build, but wife is still gonna give me grief, methinks.

If you don't hear from me for a while, look for a shallow grave behind my garage. It won't be deep as she's not much on manual labor. :D

Sitting in a Discount Tire waiting room and people are looking at me weird because this made me LOL. My wife is the same way, only I think she would take it a step further and make me dig the hole for her haha.

I'm gonna have to look into that, sounds like a great alternative.

So, the valve covers are on, oil pump drive shaft is in. About to test oil pressure after filling it up.

Already verified TDC, so it should be as simple as stabbing the distributor and twisting the key after I make a rough tune.

About 2 quarts worth lost. There's a low oil bung in the rear sump that someone forgot to plug
That's not so bad, I once had what seemed like the entire pan capacity shoot out the oil filter cause the oring on the one I just took off stayed stuck to the block. Was a mile down the road when smoke started pouring out the engine bay and pressure dropped to zero.

I primed up that 302 I built for Bruce and did the same thing.. Only, stupid here forgot to plug the sending unit hole. That oil leaves the block at surprising velocity and volume.

Well...sh*t.

Im typing this from my passenger seat, debating on opening a beer, but its looking like yes.

Got the oil system finished and primed, taped up the unused vacuum ports, tweaked my old tune to show the new displacement and injector sizes and twisted the key...

*crickets*

Oh, right dummy, the neutral safety switch.

Twist key again...

rruuurruuuurrrr ruuur .... ruuur.. ruuuruuur. ........... rur.

12.2v at battery, 11.7v at the starter. Still shouldn't sound that slow. The starter is a piece of unknown age, but if judged by appearances, it's 30 years old. Sigh, guess I have a starter on my parts list now.
