    Extra H-pipe On Exhaust

I just watched the Vid. Sounds like a nice muff. I'm a little bothered by that "flap". As will it eventually stop opening due to increased blow-by?

    Extra H-pipe On Exhaust

Never, in my 50 years of wrenching on rides, have I heard of a 2nd HP pipe to cure anything, let alone a rattle.

    Roller cam

One of the first questions one should ask themselves before beginning any build...is what are the expectations of this engine? For a spirited street warrior, a street strip ride., or a competitive track car. As each, will requie a different path, a differenset of components. Just the things I...

Engine 351c Backfiring/ And Not Running At Idle

HI, Sorry may not have been clear. I re-read when I mentioned "screws", it could have been the carb mix screws. But, I think you have them, at least, in a good starting position. "Iskwezm" made a good point about the possibility of tight valves. There is a prescribed sequence to adjusting them...

Engine 351c Backfiring/ And Not Running At Idle

Hi, Once you verify the wiring order is correct, and the dist is correctly installed, rotate the engine by hand and note at what degree on the damper, the #1 rotor position sweeps #1 on the cap. This is not perfect, but, I'm thinking you should be somewhere in the 12-14 deg BTDC , at least...

1966 Mustang: Mechanical To Electric Fuel Pump

Hi, What pressure you running at the carb. It's typical, you need a fuel pressure regulator. Most Eddy carbs don't lke more than 5.5 psi. Some Hollys will tolerate as much as 7 psi, depending on the build. They will run fine at 6, for most street rides and even some street strip rides.

Engine 351c Backfiring/ And Not Running At Idle

Hi, You state you have the #1 @ TDC. verify that both valves are completely closed. If so, re-check your plug wiring, there may be two or more crossed. Where is your initial timing set? How many turns out, are the mix needles? Does it not idle at all? If it's backfiring through the carb, It's...

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Hi, Where is your initial timing set and how did you get there? Sounds like it's just sputtering? You might pull all of the plugs and dry them. Replace and make sure you are getting a good healthy spark at the plug wire end. Assuming your choke is closed, have a helper, ever so slightly advance...

    Lifter knock after rebuild

Hi, I agree with Woodsnake"s comments about a leak. I chased this a few years ago after missing a shift. I went as far as pulling the intake and inspecting each of my "rollers" and found no faults. I doubled my header gaskets and the "tick" "left the building". Yeah, shorting plug wire is a...

    Horsepower

Hi, Unless you're not experiencing wheel hop now, I would channel the money into a good set of alum. heads with good valve train components and headers. The heads alone will save you approximately 40-50 lbs. on the front end. I've always like Tri-Ys for a street warrior as they help make torque...

    Body Work and Paint Question

Hi, I've had great success with a product called "All Metal". It's a spreadable two part product that hardeneds to a very hard machinable finish. I've used this on any number of spot welds and feathering in lap joints. I like to first shoot bare metal with either an E-coat or the ever popular...

Wheels-Tires Size of wheel and tires... Max size for stock 66

Hi, Mine have been in use since 2004 and still look great. the car is on the road from spring through late fall. I think they were purchased from California Mustang? Obviously, I can't speak to recent quality. I give them a good polish in early spring. Good luck with your decision and happy new...

    Hood Hinges

Hi, ...Happy new Year! Yes, they may be "spendy" to some wallets, but, they solved my issues. ...and yes, they are better made than my 49 year old originals.

Wheels-Tires Size of wheel and tires... Max size for stock 66

Hi and Happy new year! As I stated in my previous reply, I'm running 225 X60X15 BFGs, I'll add, my suspension is dropped 1.5 inches and I have no "rub" at those points.

Camshaft break in prior to setting timing on rebuilt 289?

Hey KS65stang, Reading through your thread, I think you are basically in good shape. I'll offer, connect an engine vac gauge and get a reading. It'll indicate your baseline, not to mention setting your curb idle quality. Those hot headers can be a lean condition. Did you calculate your CR? What...

1967 Mustang Starter - Electrical Issue

Hey Gene, I'm not dis-included from that "resemblance" either! I've been known to bridge the Pos & Grd on those solenoids using plier handles. Things got hot fast, don't you know. LOL! Ken

Engine What is this vacuum gauge telling me about my engine?

What do you know about the cam? Is your PCV system in good working order? Less than 15 on a street cam is venturing into pretty drastic for a street-able ride. If it's an Eddy cam and you know the grind number contact Edelbrock tech. They should be able to tell you what the expected vac should...

1967 Mustang Starter - Electrical Issue

Hi, I had to laugh a little at the comment "Something is just not right.", as I venture to say anyone of us has "been there done that". After learning more about the starter circuitry and relays, I use a remote switch for cranking the engine over. As was mentioned, its a simple momentary contact...

Engine engine overheated, now idles high....why?

Hi, Yes, depending on "how hot", lots of nasty stuff can go wrong. Seeing any white'ish smoke out of the exhaust? Any noticeable loss in coolant, that is, after replacing the pump, re-filling coolant, and purging of air pockets? Obviously, you re-checked the carb linkage is normalized, as 2500...
