A week ago I took my '99 cobra in to fix a leak connected with my power steering fluid. Fluid was leaking, but I didn't know from what.

For $450 they changed the power steering pump.

The leak continued.

Now they tell me I need to replace my hydroboost for something like $800.

It seems to me that the power steering pump probably wasn't defective.

They disagree.

Is there any reason to think they're telling the truth?

Thanks

That sucks....he said she said crap.

I would ask them to produce the old part and SHOW you the leak. If they can't prove it, why should you pay for their mis-diagnostics. At the least they should not charge you labor....I would demand proof or get my money back since it didn't solve the problem.

That's a lot of money for a BS problem.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. It seems pretty crazy to think that BOTH the powersteering pump and the hydroboost were leaking. Especially since things didn't improve after they replaced th PS pump.

I'm under the impression that the tech didn't know the Cobra uses a hydroboost, which is why he didn't check it out in the first place.

Does anyone know if other 'stangs have hydroboost?

Thanks
