I'm going to be getting an offroad H-pipe for my cobra, but I don't want to just run it as is. I'm thinking of at least taking some old cats, taking off the shells and welding them to my offroad pipe...just in case I get one of those roadside "quick glances" to see if I have cats. Probably won't ever happen, but don't want to chance it. I found a cheap price on an h-pipe with cats from an 86 mustang. Should that be OK? I imagine the cats are "somewhat" similar in size to regular ones on our stock pipes, or something like it?

I would have hollowed out the cats on my Mac H-pipe w/cats, but I've read a lot of posts on here saying it doesn't sound as good as just a regular offroad pipe. Besides, I can probably sell the Mac pipe if I need to as it only has about 200 miles on it.

Any ideas here guys? Or maybe you've already done the "shell" thing and could give me some pointers.

(I know i'll have to swap it out anyways for smog)
