spent some time today doing some dis assembly, in these pics you can really see how bad the inner fenders and the core support are, there is a ton of body filler in them

Also I took a pic of the new inner fenders.

tomorrow I am going to start pulling stuff out of the engine bay

so I started pulling apart the motor today because it needs to be cleaned up and I wasn't going to bother doing a rebuild and low and behold this is what I found....so the previous owner obviously didn't take care of this thing.

it's completely full of sludge it's wonder the thing even ran.

With those inner fender wells, do you weld them in? And what would you do behind them just throw some nice paint in there so it doesnt rust/rot from behind? I blasted my fender wells and was going to weld every hole..but id rather use the ones you bought.

Alright, so ill just por-15 behind the aprons and weld in the new panels. Thanks man! I havent seen them until now. Looks like you have to continue them to cover the frame rail though. No big deal. Sweet build, ill be watching!

no new pics, but I have been working a lot on it

started drilling out the inner fender spot welds (pain in the ass) and doing some body work. I am a newbie when it comes to Body work but my friends who usually help me are busy with their cars instead of relying on waiting for them I dove in for myself and will have them check my work. My Goal is to have the car painted by the first week in June which might be close depending on how much I can get done.

I also got most of my parts for my 5-speed swap it's going to feel good banging gears since I haven't drove stick in nearly 7 years

I'll take a few shots of my body work progress tonight should be spending most of the night working on it.

:jaw:

I would clean that out really good, and I bet the tops of the cylinder heads/rocker arm area is nasty too. Most importantly, though, don't let that stuff fall further into the engine! Then I would change the oil after the first few times of driving the thing.

actually the heads and rockers are spotless, I cleaned the **** out of the valley and checked all the drains, regardless it's all coming out and being pulled apart to be freshened up. Good tip on the oil changes

Here's a few updated pic's they don't show a ton of progress then again most of the body work were tiny little door ding type of stuff, how bad does the core support look to you?

no "new" pics just some olders ones. been super busy the past few weeks and I'm going away for another week so I wont be getting much done anytime soon. Hope to have the motor dropped off at the machine shop in a few weeks to get some work done, here are some random shot's..oh and for the record I am never getting this involved in a car again... I bit off a lot more than I can chew and pretty much wasted an entire summer of not being able to drive my car. in-hindsight it would have been easier to pickup a shell (which I have access to) for a lot cheaper than the time/money I have into this car. I will own this car for the rest of my life after all this work..

Next Up I am going to remove everything that's left in the engine bay and start grinding the old spot welds and patch some holes.

i chuckled at the finish me!... good progress. dont fret too much, coulda woulda shoulda, youve learned allot despite what you might think. youll be ready to restore another fox body in no time. slow and steady progress produces good work. just take you time and keep trucking, it will be all worth it in the end. i went through this same thing when rebuilding my waverunner, it all pays off when you go for your first drive.

sooo, I finally started working on this thing after about a year, it's just been sitting in my garage to the side covered with crap. I got new plans for it, I almost got rid of it but my buddy talked me into keeping it, i'm not going to go into details yet untill I make some more progress.

Today I pulled the dash and all the wiring if that's a hint to where i'm going with this, i'll post some more pics as I continue to work on this thing
