What the hell is this noise!? *video*

I think I hear impeller noise. I had an old ATI Procharger, that the oil all leaked out of, and it started making a similar noise. Try sticking something on the blower, like a long screwdriver, and put your ear to the other end, and see if the noise is amplified any. Or, you could try running it without the belt when it's in the shop to see if the noise goes away, as Craiger77 said.

Sounds like the timing chain tensioner is loose or starting to go bad. Chain slap at any RPM sounds like a knock. Especially if it's slapping the housing. If it gets worse the warmer the motor, it's a good possibility it's the chain. How many miles on motor?

Yes, it gets more noticeable as the motor warms up. 42,000! It's got like noo miles on it. :bang:

I know it's not knock. I know it's not the blower (when you put your ear right by the blower, it's not there. It's coming from the housing).

If the chain is bad, how much $$ are we talking here to fix this. :(

Okay, I sent the video and this thread to my mechanic who promptly got back to me reguarding the videos I posted:

"That noise sounds like the typical vortech blower internal gears noise which is normal. Doesnt sound like the motor at all. My old vortech did the same thing, in fact the rougher the idle (cam, etc) the rougher that noise is. So dont worry about it. When I swap the belt I'll run the motor without the belt for a sec to confirm the noise is in the blower not the motor."

:flag::nice:
