wow
Wreckage from the scene of a head-on crash involving a Suffolk County police car and a Ford Mustang driven by Gabriel Bergianti, 27, of 32 Williams St. in Port Jefferson Station. The two cars collided as the police officer was chasing after motorcyclists who had been reported speeding. Bergianti later died at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson.
Police said that Sixth Precinct police Officer Robert Falisi was responding to a call of 15 motorcycles speeding on Route 25A in the Miller Place area when he saw some of the motorcycles traveling westbound on Route 25A in Mount Sinai, the police said. As Falisi entered the intersection of Route 347 and Hallock Avenue at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, he collided with Bergianti.
Officer Falisi was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was treated for lacerations to his arm and other minor injuries and released.

Especially if you're in a rush. I say all this assuming the cop had his lights on. If he didn't, that's different. I agree that the cop shouldn't try and chase bikes, but he was just responding to a call, which is his job.
