Hood Scoop Choices

I'm looking at options for giving my '69 coupe a little more attitude and am thinking about hood scoops.

Final body color will likely be all black. I'll also be installing the front spoiler and the rear molded deck lid spoiler with end caps (the small version, not the tall one!)

There are a few options.

Modify a 7/68 Shelby Style scoop.

Modify a 05-07 scoop

Any other ideas?

What do you think would look best?

My Q code didn't come with a shaker so I bought the 03/04 Mach 1 shaker with the classic adapter from Kar Kraft and am going to fab up an aluminium base and midplate for it. Hopefully all this will cost less than 400 dollars.

I have a wimbledon white thunderbird scoop with a kick ass airbrushed horse on it that I am trying to get rid of. I was going to put the scoop on my 66 mustang but got in an accident and baught a whole new cowl hood instead. Let me know if you are interested

Maier Racing Cougar Eliminator

whole fiberglass hood OR just the scoop - fiberglass hood can be hard to line up, use lightweight hood springs or just a prop, yada yada. Or just go scoop. I think the Boss 429 scoop is too over-the-top. Cougar looks similar but more proportional to the rest of the body. Here are my pics from my visit to Maier. This is probably the hood scoop that will go on mine.

:rlaugh: I thought this option was a Chevy or Ricer only deal..........:rlaugh: If going this route, might as well do what I saw yesterday runnign around........... Saw a Jeep Cherokee with a homemade aluminum cowl scoop about 6" tall X 12" wide and the same distance long. Had an open rear with screen wire covering it.:stupid: Got a good laugh both times I saw it.:D

The cougar scoop looks good. I don't care much for a cowl scoop, it eliminates the center contours on the hood which I consider a key design element of the 69s & 70s. I always liked the cobrajet scoop, nice and subtle. My plans for the 69 are to modify a glass hood by adding a nostril scoop on each side of the center contour, grabber maverick style.
