First off, here's a link to Part 1 of this journey:

My goal is to make a tribute to one of my favorite cars of all time, the 1966 Shelby GT350:

She went from this.....

.....to California Concepts for part 1......

......and back to California Concrpts for part 2:

They painted the strips down the front and rear bumpers and added the lower billet grill:

Here's a better picture of the color of the stripes:

Custom GT350 side strips with the GT badge replaced with the running pony emblem:

Shelby hood pins:

I obtained a neat little gasket that fits around the hood pin to keep water out of the engine compartment:

I've also added about 300 pounds of billet aluminum pieces to the interiior :rlaugh: . Well, maybe not quite that much :D . I'll take pictures of all the interior upgrades next weekend.

Thanks for looking,

Rick

Looks good! However if you're going for the GT350 look, the original didn't have a ducktail spoiler. That was only the GT500 I believe.

Thanks Power4. The GT350 had it too...but not until 1967. I just couldn't help myself! I love the look of that ducktail spoiler. My interior should be black but it isn't because I just had to have the chamois. Poetic license anyone????

Ahh, okay. Most of the pics I've seen of it were pre-67 then. Here's one of a '67 with it:

Where can I get that ducktail spoiler, I want to get rid of the GT wing soooooo bad. EZ to install?

I ordered my car with the spoiler delete so I could install the ductail without doing body work to fill the factory spoiler holes. There are ductail spoilers that will cover those holes. Maybe someone can let us know which ones they are???

Awesome job, it looks great. The '66 350 is one of my all time favorites too.

One question, where did you get the lower billet grill? Hows the fit and finish?

It's by Carriage Works. It's OK but if I had it to do over again (and I probably will) I'd use a Cervini that replaces the factory plastic piece instead of being just and overlay. I used the Cervini upper billet grill and I like it.

Hey kooldawg6, I like the higher profile tires too. It's in keeping with this old guys "Old School" approach to this build. It's funny for me to think of 18" wheels as being "small". My Mustang's front wheels are larger than my old C5 Corvette and both front and rear are wider than the Vette  :nice:

Looks great, the only thing missing are the silver horse side louvers. I got to see three 1967 GT-350s, one GT-500, 4 shelby cobras, 2 GT-40s and one 2004 mustang Cobra at a car show this past weekend, I will have to post some pics.

With such a quality and classy looking ride, I would go with noneother than www.midwestautogear.com for your engine cover:nice: I used their customizer and made a Performance White cover with the "GT" and ribs in Vista Blue...Looks awesome:nice:
