What temp does your 5.0 run at?

So since the weather has gotten warmer, I noticed that the temperature has gone from between M and A up to beteen O and R. I understand that it is still in the "normal" range but just wondering if that is ok.

Also, I have the Weiand 8215P water pump, which I thought would drop the temperature. (http://store.summitracing.com/partd...908331+4294908282+4294840126+115&autoview=sku)

Well, the stock gauge is crap. Mine is nowhere near as accurate as my Autometer.

My autometer says my car will run at 188 degrees while sitting at idle on a 100 degree day in traffic. I have routinely done that. With the fan on, it will go no higher.

Like others mentioned, the stock gauge is usually inaccurate. Mine read 160 degress when warmed up. But it is a 100% stock car with 54k. I've never hooked up a Autometer gauge to tell if its accurate or not though. But thats what it reads ha.

with an autometer gauge I'm running around 208 with a stock 195 stat. 210 is totally fine for the 5.0.

i think thats about normal cuz the stock thermostat is a 192. im carbed now, tried a 160 an it never ran any hotter but i believe that its a little to cold for a carbed setup so im goin to a 180. i think your fine though.

the notch: 165 per my autometer with the a/c on in 100deg weather, lol thats what a big aluminum rad will do for a pos 4 banger...

185 all day long!!!! in 100 deg heat, A'C on-bumper to bumper traffic. Doesnt matter. I also had the wieand W/P, i didnt like it compared to the Eddy, seen a huge diff on the gauge when i swapped in the weiand, out it came-back to the eddy.
by the way-My set up is Fluidyne rad, 180 mr. gasket T-stat, eddy w/p and mk8 E-fan 50/50 mix w/2 bottles of water wetter.

mines sits around 180-190. got a pump from summit, 180deg thermostat, and a ron davis aluminum radiator. oh ya and no ac

This is a good thread for me because I'm going to look at a 91 with a Vortech V1 (6 psi) and stock radiator. It has all the supporting exhaust/Air mods and the owner told me it runs at 190-200 all day in traffic with no worries. If I get it I think I'll upgrade to one of those summit aluminum 2 rows and a 180 stat just to be safe.

By the way does anyone run one of those cheap aluminum radiators everyone is selling now? The price is great!

I have a Stewart Components stage 1 Pump, 180° Balanced T-Stat, & a stock, old, clogged 2-row rad. I stay at 179° when its below about 80° outside and when it gets into the 100°'s I go up to about 210-215. I have a digital water temp gauge, and I'm in agreement. Anybody worried about their water temp needs to get an aftermarket gauge....right now.....go...do it....

Sometime this summer I will get a nice new 3-row rad and I'm positive it will never go above 185°.

185 Rock solid with a 331 stroker and 180 TStat, Napa rebuild pump, 3 core brass upgrade radiator, black magic electric fan.

No, i cant explain why it runs so cool, lol

Now that it's about 110*F over here, mine runs between 198*F (the fan off temp.) and 208*F (the fan on temp.) with a Mishimoto aluminium radiator and Mr. Gasket 180* t'stat. When I have the AC on the gauge stays at the lower end of that range. I'm more than happy.

180* on my autometer with a 180* tstat. On the stock gauge it reads between the A and L in NORMAL.

On my previous stang w/ the same 180° T-stat & Stewart Components pump....the brass 3-row from autozone NEVER ran over 182° even in 110°+ weather.....And I had AC on that car. hehe

Oh, I almost forgot, I also have the SSP fan clutch. It spins the fan faster at idle to really keep the temps down on those "stuck in traffic" days.
