What now?

I just got my car dyno tuned today and I was running super lean. Car runs much smoother now. I put down 251/285.

So basically I believe I am maxed on on power without getting into the engine or adding a power adder of some sort. Only thing I have not done is touch the headers, but those seem like such a pain to do if I stop there. You should be able to see what I have in my signature. Any thoughts on something else I can do to my car power wise? Where do I go from here? Also I have 98k miles on the car now.

not to hijack (too much...)

where'd you get it tuned?...I'm looking for somebody in the soCal for a dyno tune

and I don't see cams in your sig...that might be a good 'next step'

I thought about cams and LTs as others mentioned, but I don't really want to bother with the LTs unless I can pass smog with them. I don't want to switch those out every time I have to smog. Too much of a pain. Maybe cams, but I have heard they won't add too much power for the money.

As for the tune, I got it from SoCalTuning.com. They are located in Anaheim. They are also known as Superior Automotive. Socaltuning.com will put you in touch with the appropriate person. Owners name is Shawn.

OC Stang:

After you get gears, cams WILL produce a good increase in power. Some cams will produce up to 40 RWHP at peak and 15 to 25 RWHP 'on average'. Choose wisely because an aggressive cam will (a) give you smog problems and (b) produce power at high RPM and (c) generally reduce hp/torque at low RPM. If this is your daily driver and not a frequent dragstrip car, then you ought to consider 'stage 1' cams: good gains without bad side effects.

Chris

Yeah, I would consider stage one cams, but definitely don't want smog problems or lose any low rpm power. That is what i like the most. I don't rev her out too much. Definitely not dragstrip car. I just like punching it on streets and freeways. Or just plain showing off.

That is pretty good numbers for a light bolt on Stang. Cams are worth it if you do it yourself or if you can find a lightly used set cheap. I picked up mine with about 6000 miles on them for 350. Nearly 75K miles later and still going strong.

You can really show off with a supercharger. Not to hijack but what was your hp and tq before the tune or did you not get a baseline?

I did not get a full baseline. They tried to do one but cut it off before winding it out.
My car was detonating big time. It was running very very lean. Was like above 14 or 15 in A/F Ratio. Measurement was 219hp at first, but like I said did not wind it all the way up. Made some adjustments on second run got 239hp. Then adjusted again and got the 251. The guys said he was gonna try and get 260, but forgot that mustangs he tuned that got that high had long tubes.

Im currently considering cams. Seems like the next step to more horsepower without getting a supercharger. If you havent got gears yet, you will not be let down. I have a long commute so I got 3.73s. If I didnt want a supercharger in the future and worked closer to home I would have gotten 4.10s. Seems like everyone I see with 4.10s has broke into the 13s in the quarter mile.
