We may go to the spring race. Looked like there were plenty of seats

Yes, my wife even made mention of this very fact. We noticed a LOT of empty grandstand seating which is unusual for Talladega. I also noticed a lot of open spaces available in the infield too which is normally unheard of at Talladega. I think the state of the economy is hurting just about everyone, including the toothless beer swilling truck drivin' die hard Earnhardt fans who normally turn Talladega into Alabama's 2nd most populated city twice a year.

those seats are usually available. Mostly just drunks there

but, looks like most of our krewe has backed out. Looks like we are just going to hit qualifying on friday and take some n00bs to check it out

I was watching LSU/Florida. I got discouraged and went to bed early...saw Carl was down by 16 laps so I didn't have much reason to stay up after LSU's meltdown.

The Chase is beginning to suck. It goes back to slow and steady win the race.

should be pretty exciting this weekend. too bad I'll be on the road. Luckily, I'll be driving through Alabama about the time the race is on so I should have no problem finding a radio station to listen in on

I've enjoyed all of it... well, except the KyBu part. But that has worked itself out

I think the entire sport of nascar sucks now. To many inconsistenties and the whole chase for the cup is a joke. Its a double edge sword b/c when someone is running away with the points no one watches the sport over the last month b/c they know who will win. When the chase came along it wipes out everything you worked to accomplish as far as points and you still have the entire field on the race track. Any other sports the team that does not make the "post season" Is no longer allowed to play, but how boring would racing be w/ 12 cars but how fair is it to the top 12 to have to deal with everyone else still there?


As much as everyone hates kyle bush this is still a good example. He goes in just before the chase w/ a big lead. Once in the chase and everyone else is on the same playing field again he has a few bad races now hes pretty much out of any chance of winning the cup. If it was not for the chase those few messed up races would not have knocked him out of the contention for the cup

NHRA went with a similar system to determine their season champs too. I don't like it at all...

a Playoff type system just does not work in auto sports as it does w/ Football, Basketball, Baseball
