so tonight i have nothing to do but play with my MGW shifter that came in the mail, read my new 5.0 M&SF magazine, and surf t3h intarwebz because i dropped my car off at the shop to be dyno tuned tomorrow morning...

whilst browsing said intarwebz i came across this thing... apparently back in 2007 world renowned Italian automobile designer Giorgetto Giugiaro made a mustang concept and it looked like this:

apparently the car debuted at the '07 LA auto show... the lambo doors are unnecessary :ack: (as are the horse-hide seats), but at least it's a supercharged 4.6L

what do you guys think about this incarnation of the mustang? what if the 2010 Mustang reveal showed this car? i'm sure there were threads on this back in 2007, but i wasn't a member on here then... i was still driving my 1972 Cutlass 442 clone in those days :D anyway... speak up!

kinda reminds me of the camaro that is coming out. not too bad but better off with another name than calling a mustang. probably would have caught on if they just called it the stangari or something.

Have you not seen the 2010 Mustang? Your post makes it seem like you missed that its already been out, but I could be just misunderstanding you.

The seats are ugly as hell, I agree with you there, but I don't know why Lambo doors get such a bad rep. Who ever said doors always have to open the same way? I think its because most cars that get converted to Lambo doors are tasteless to begin with, usually at the owner's fault. But if it came from the factory that way, I wouldn't complain. I still think suicide doors on ANYTHING is bad ass.

That said, I was never a fan of this concept, and I think the 2010 Mustang ended up looking a hell of a lot better. The lines on this car just don't flow and the hood/windshield/cabin look terribly out of proportion from a side view.

Look at every concept car tho (besides the challenger concept). They all have outrageous body lines and styling ques and usually people love them or straight up hate them. If you compare that to the 2010 Mustang, they used a decent amount from that concept for 2010 production car. Mainly the quarters sloping down on the tops and the front end here an there.

I've seen the new 2010 Mustang and I'm actually a big fan, I'm sorry if my wording was awkward, but I was just posing a hypothetical question: what if this concept was the 2010 Mustang?

I, personally, am not a fan of Lambo doors on anything but a Lamborghini... suicide doors, like on a '69 Lincoln Continental or hot rod, well, that's a different story altogether :D.

I like some of the styling cues on this concept, but it feels too sleek, and too damn Italian. Having driven late '60s and early '70s GM A-bodies for so long, I kind of like the feeling of having enough horsepower and torque in a boxy muscle car to give the finger to aerodynamics. It makes me feel so American. :flag:

I like the panoramic roof but I don't think it would ever make it onto a production mustang, I dont think anyone would want to pay 5k for a replacement after a few rock chips on the highway :rolleyes:.
