Here's the whole story

DETROIT – General Motors Corp.'s auditors have raised "substantial doubt" about the troubled automaker's ability to continue operations.

The company revealed the concerns, raised by the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP, in its annual report filed on Thursday.

GM has received $13.4 billion in federal loans as it tries to survive the worst auto sales climate in 27 years. It is seeking a total of $30 billion from the government. During the past three years it has piled up $82 billion in losses, including $30.9 billion in 2008.

GM says in its report that its auditors cited recurring losses from operations, stockholders' deficit and an inability to generate enough cash to meet its obligations in raising substantial doubts about its ability to continue as a going concern.

The company said in its filing that its future depends on successfully executing the viability plan submitted to the government in February to justify the loans.

"If we fail to do so for any reason, we would not be able to continue as a going concern and could potentially be forced to seek relief through a filing under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code," GM said in the annual report, filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

GM, the report said, is highly dependent on auto sales volume, which dropped rapidly last year.

"There is no assurance that the global automobile market will recover or that it will not suffer a significant further downturn," the company wrote.

I think by 2010, were gonna see a lot of sports cars dissapear. maybe even the mustang

Naw...not the Stang. Ford is already taken steps to assure it will be around. The ecoboost engine will kep the mustang in the game. Now some die hards will balk at a v6 TT stang, but it will still sell and survive.

Hell remember the cobra II ?

its hard to say what could happen to the auto industry for american cars, let alone sports cars.

no matter how bad gas prices are, people will buy mustangs. hell. i bought mine when gas was close to 5 bucks a gallon. and drove it like i stole it.

and GM has that cylinder cut off thing where when cruising it shuts down to 4 cylinders being fired. Gm has never had problems making their pony cars fuel efficient. no it isn't hybrid mpg but its still damn good for what they are.

i'm afraid to see Chrysler take it though, there are so many good cars they could bring back, change, etc. They are holding off on the new charger body style. the concepts looked AWESOME. i can't seem to find a picture.

G8 GXP and regular GT

caddilac cts-v

vette

solstice gxp depending on driver.

theres more i'm sure that i'm missing, but GMs got alot of cars now that you don't think are fast until you run into the special model.

Keyword in that statement is SPECIAL. If it takes a special model to beat a run of the mill GT that's pretty sad.

EDIT: Oh I forgot that I heard GM is supposedly shutting down the SS division and other performance lines. So the Caddilac V and others won't be coming back. Not sure if that is true though.

I saw a transport trailer full of new Camaros on the road the other day. All colors and flavors.

I also drove up on a new Camaro SS on Woodward Ave. last week. Silver. No "M" plate on the car, so it may be a consumer car. I listened for the exhaust, and it was pretty quiet, actually. Tires looks rather skinny (like mine, LOL). The guy (older) didn't get on it at all. Looks rather large.

The end.

Actually, a regular G8 GT will outrun a GT Mustang stock for stock. A Solstice GXP, Cobalt SS, Vue Redline, or G6 GXP will keep up with one, but outhandle it. A base vette will destroy a GT or a GT500 (though a base vette is not in the same price leaque so that is irrelevant). Even a TrailblazerSS will almost keep up with a Mustang. Not sure what they run, but I know plenty of SRT8 Grand Cherokees that go DEEP 13s stock, and I'd assume a trailblazer SS would perform similiarly.

I don't need to get into it AGAIN like in the thread last week. The stupid, blind brand loyalty and downright IGNORANCE that this forum and some of it's members is filled with never ceases to amaze me. GM has just as much place here as Ford, and the country needs them just as much as Ford.

THANK YOU.

and a stock trailblazer SS will run 13.5 or better. i know i got beat by one at the track.

steel horse. remember, your cars not the basemodel either. the base model would be the v6. so take your specialty GT, and race a specialty GM. by specialty GM i'm not talking zr1 status i'm just not talking the base model

and for what its worth, a base model GM 6 banger, is most likely peppier then our base model 6 banger. my friend zachs grand prix gt is pretty peppy for what it is, fast as my old 94 mustang gt.

its not brand loyalty or anything, i never owned a GM vehicle, and most likely never will. but i respect when people make a good vehicle.

every car i've ever owned has had the blue oval on it. and i intend to keep it that way, or at least have to do with the blue oval [mercury, lincoln. etc]

No doubt GM makes a good car once in a while. They put out garbage for so long though. It's crippled them now so badly that even when they do put something good out (G8, Z06, Solstice GXP, redline series, ss series etc), it's not enough to put them in the black. They should have been putting these cars out years ago. Ford is guilty of this as well, but not as badly as GM. Poor management has killed the brand and possibly the camaro. Don't you dare shed a tear for them.

I could care less about "oh this car runs this, and this car runs that." I love my car and that's all that matters.

i dunno, from what i've seen. GM releases alot of cars their customers are happy with.

i see a lot of well the car could have _____ from ford people.

like an IRS option, more horsepower, more cubic inches, better interior, different grill. etc.

fords selection is pretty slim, they don't have too many cars and thru out the brands the cars are pretty similar. fusion/milan, sable/taurus [ i know, oldschool. hah.] grand marquis/crown victoria. GM has alot more vehicles out there. I wish ford would release more, but they are doing just fine the way they are, so i doubt they would do that until the economys better I wanna see a s197 cougar though! hell i'd even consider making my car into a retro cougar if i ever wanted to change it up alot.

maybe i'll photoshop something tonight... hm.
