A/C Freon Leak at high side port

I looked at the port and it was threaded. I called the local ford dealer and was able to order the threaded valve assembly for 16.xx+tax. Maybe you can purchase this part from the local parts stores, but I've never found their quality to be up to par, so I ordered the ford part.

Cool. let me know how it works out, im hoping thats the problem with mine and I can get away with a cheap fix. No A/C in Florida is killing me:notnice:

Does anyone know if this service port can be removed with the a/c fully charged? My high side port is now leaking after a full a/c evac and charge. The high side port started leaking when I took the manifold gauges off.

Question, can you remove the Schrader value core from a tire without the air escaping?

Removing the value core will open the system and allow high pressure Freon to escape.

Have you considered getting a new screw on external cap with an O-ring seal? This seams a lot easier than replacing the core. Have the core replaced next time the AC is serviced.

If you open a fully charged air conditioning system you asking for some type of injury:mad:. That R12 will freeze a finger to the point it needs to be thawed out or amputated. Dude, you asking that question makes me wonder if you need to be messing with A/C unit at all:(.
