*UPDATE!!!!!* READ MY POST BELOW # 12 TO SEE LINK TO THREAD FOR COMPANY THAT WAS SCREWING ME!!!!!!

Ok, posted a thread on here about a month ago asking about a certain transmission company and a new transmission hitting the market. After placing an order and having it not work out (refund still pending-details later) I've just decided to go with a Tremec TKO 600.

I talked to a guy at Promotion Performance today and they have some pretty trick upgrades for these trannys at reasonable prices. I liked what he had to say... They also supply hardware for several top NMRA racers, Matherly being one of them. Seem pretty reputable.

I also spoke with a guy From AMP in Phoenix, and plan on calling D&D in michigan, and American powertrain in Tennesse.

Anybody have any dealings with these companies, .02 cents to throw in, bad experiences, suggestions, etc? Because I DO NOT want a repeat of my last experience, and before I drop a couple grand I'd like to be better prepared
this time!

Thanks in advance-
Allen

Details after refund is recieved. I've seen a few threads on other sites turn ugly fast with these folks. I think they search their name and respond to neg feedback.

call tony at astro performance, awesome service!

+1, Exactly what I was going to say. I have one long ongoing good experience with them, haha. One time maybe 4 years ago I bought an upgraded rebuilt T5 from them, and ever since then I can call and Tony will take the time to talk to me about any questions I have. Very friendly, very knowledgeable.

I will say they are hard to contact sometimes, though. I think they might run limited hours.

Liberty, or Pro Motion.

Liberty faceplated my trans, the price was pretty fair i thought, and it works great, i also have promotions cable kit in my car and it works very well, thier service is also good, but they couldnt do exactly what i wanted them to do with my transmisson so i sent it to liberty.

LIBERTYS TTC TRANSMISSIONS

+2. Tony is a great guy to deal with, love my tranny. Fast shipping and top notch service :nice:

Well, I finally got my refund last night! Finally! I placed an order on the 19th of January and after much frustration, refund. mostly. I gave them a $1000 deposit and got back $970. It's like I paid someone $30.00 to hold a grand of my money and tell me lies for a month. Getting a refund was like dickering with a used car salesman, utterly ridiculous. I will never, ever do business with these folks again.

When I ordered this trans I asked for a custom made driveshaft to fit in my mustang, (among half a dozen other items)they said they'd ship it all to me right away. Three and a half weeks later I'm still getting stories about parts availability, and that I'll have to wait another 1-2 weeks. When I decided to cancel my order and ask for a refund, The transmission magically appeared in their shop and they were ready to ship it to me. I asked about the driveshaft and dude tells me I need to install the trans, and call them back with a measurement so they know what size to make it! This after he tells me they have them ready to go!

THEN, They refuse to refund my credit card, and want to send me a check 30days later....(30 day processing period)

I freak and say HELL no.

Refund my cc NOW!

They say $300 cancellation fee.

This goes on for 3 days and finally I say VISA dispute and BBB.

Then, only then, they decide to work with me. I had to agree to pay THEIR $30.00 fee to refund through VISA to get MY money back after all that.

A guy on another forum sent me a pm and told me he used to work for them, and they've had their tremec distributorship pulled, which was their bread and butter. Now they are really hurting and can't pay vendors on time, which makes them recieve parts late, and they are waaaay late filling orders.

Do yourself a favor and think real hard about it before doing business with these guys. I should have done more research first!

Here was my origional thread:

Yeah, at first when their ex-employee contacted me via pm to warn me away, i was skeptical about him just being disgruntled, but man he wasn't. Every thing he said about the customer service was spot on! He even says that the torque ratings on these things are fabricated, and that they have no real way to test them at their facility! I was jazzed about them too, and they talk a mean game, but unfortunately, it appears to be just that, talk. BEWARE!!!!!!!!:notnice::notnice::notnice:

and so their transmissions are not a direct fit with a fox? I thought you just needed a tko bellhousing to fi it. is it longer or shorter than a t5?

They say they are, but crap, I never recieved one, just kept getting the runaround. How do you trust that? What about trusting they will honor the warranty when you can't even get the damned trans to begin with?

sad to say a lot of companies operate like that nowadays, no excuse but the economy is really changing the face of the industry. Just learned that Redneck Performance (tranny etc) and Barry Grant (carbs etc) are both kaaapppuuuttt

Glad you got your cash back, and kudos to you for the way you handled it

I just went through a PITA with a new Demon for my Dodge. Ended up sending it back and getting a Holley instead. Which is a shame cause I have a Road Demon that I bought back in 2000 that still works great to this day.

To the OP: I have been hearing a lot of bad stories about that company here lately. Glad I never dropped the change on a 5 speed conversion for my Dart from them.
