Optima Batteries?

The only way I am paying $300 for a battery is if Kate Upton installs it- naked- covered in chocolate- and gives me a spatula- and a feather.
I got mine on sale otherwise keep on moving. O'reillys also had a house brand gel cell that was a much more affordable alternative.

My brother had a redtop in his 01 Cobra, had it on a tender last year and was still dead come spring, we think it might of been the rust protection that was on the car when he bought it in Hawaii, now the battery is removed from the vehicle sitting on the tender on a shelf in the basement, we shall see if it keeps its charge.
Anyone in cold climates... Stick to lead/acid batteries.
If you live in an area where you'll see -10* then don't waste your time. Optima batteries work great in that environment when they are not going to jarred or bumped. When it gets cold out, they freeze and normal vehicles are too bumpy to keep from breaking the coiled cores inside.
They're not AS fragile when they're consistently warm. Southern states, I'd put one in anything that wasn't a rock climber or ATV of some kind.

Legally under rules? If it's in a sealed and vented battery box. They do off-gas so it's not a great idea to run it otherwise.

In addition to what Noobz said, contrary to popular opinion, sealed agm batteries should be vented as well.
I've had two Optima batteries. One red top and on yellow top. Both lasted less that a year. I'm done with them....

I went to buy one at Napa Auto Parts once and the salesman told me I would not be happy with it and recommended their less expensive Napa Gold battery. He said the Napa battery was much more reliable than the Optima.
