Just Picked Up V6 With Known Bad Head Gasket. Shakes Terribly

The radiator was empty when I picked up the vehicle. The engine head oil I could not tell if it had any coolant in it. It didn't appear to be milky. It just appeared to be rather thin. I took my chances on the vehicle being only $500.

Just Picked Up V6 With Known Bad Head Gasket. Shakes Terribly

I've been researching the idea of going with a 4.2. I became aware about the 2000 model year changes. As for the compression test, I found cylinder 1 and the cylinder behind it to have roughly 25 psi. I didn't check the cylinder behind it. I did check the cylinder on the driver side at the very...

Just Picked Up V6 With Known Bad Head Gasket. Shakes Terribly

I picked up a 2000 v6 for $500 with a known blown head gasket. I drained coolant and replaced plugs. My plan was to get it into the garage and shut off for repairs. Compression is next to nothing in front 2 passenger side cylinders, cyl 1 and whichever is one behind it. Finally got the engine...

    3650 Remote Shifter Location Mod

Hello.. I am building an AC Cobra and came across an 05 Mustang 3650 transmission for free. I did not receive a shifter and will need to purchase one sometime during my build. I understand that the shifter location sits further back than what the sn95 version sits. Does anyone know if there...

Engine 4.6 Oil Pan Differences Gt, Mark Viii, Town Car

Thats a good point.. I have yet to set the motor into the frame. Still working on getting the engine out of the mark viii. After that, I will need to come up with some motor mounts. I wonder if I should look into putting a shield in front of the pan.

Broke Heat Control This Morning - What Could It Be?

Thanks for the heads up. The knob appeared to be glued on this morning. I was surprised it wouldn't come off yet it was so easy to remove at lunch. I will have to take a look at things..

Broke Heat Control This Morning - What Could It Be?

Just went out on my lunch break and was able to remove the knob. What is odd is that this morning I pulled and pulled on this thing and it refused to come off. It just slipped right off now. So now I need to find out why it broke. It shouldn't have that much resistance.

Broke Heat Control This Morning - What Could It Be?

Well I got up this morning at 6:15 am in Northern Michigan and it was pretty cold out. Decided to start the car up then go back in to get ready for work. Started the car and went to adjust my heat (blend door). It had a little resistance to it so I backed it off a little seeing if it would...

87 Mustang - Keeping It Stock Of Make A Few Small Changes

Yes.. I have thought this as well. Im surprised I have not seen more write up's of people going that route. They all appear to be with a Ford Racing coyote. But then this fox would not be original.

What I would like to do is drop i a coyote. But that would require a lot of dough, which I do not have at the moment. I agree with the fact that you dont see too many black fox verts around. I am on the fence.. Oh well.. maybe I will have a clearer direction come spring. Thanks

Engine 4.6 Oil Pan Differences Gt, Mark Viii, Town Car

I guess my thoughts were if a smaller pan was used then it would make the dipstick appear like it has 6 qts when in fact it might only have 5 qts. But maybe I am looking at it wrong. I have never torn apart a 4.6 so that is why I wondered about the pick up. Thanks

Engine 4.6 Oil Pan Differences Gt, Mark Viii, Town Car

Hello, I have a question about 4.6 oil pan differences between these cars. I am aware that the Mark VIII oil pan has a baffle attached to the side of the oil pan. Well, at least some of the years. I have a 97 Mark VIII parts car that I bought to use for an AC Cobra project that I am working...

87 Mustang - Keeping It Stock Of Make A Few Small Changes

I paid $2200 for the car. Overall, the car isnt bad. It has decent paint job and zero rust. It has a new top and water pump. Since I have owned it, I replaced heater core, lower intake gaskets, wiper motor, front brake hoses. It needs a new driver door handle replaced, new power lock...

87 Mustang - Keeping It Stock Of Make A Few Small Changes

That is quite the response. Thanks for the suggestions. What gaskets leak? All of them... literally. I have oil leaking from oil pan, timing cover, valve covers, rear main. I need to replace the pressure line going to the power steering pump. I bought the car back in September. It was...

87 Mustang - Keeping It Stock Of Make A Few Small Changes

Hello, I am in a position where I am not sure which direction I should take. What I have is an 87 Mustang 5 speed with 108,000 miles on it. It is all original, as far as I can tell. Overall, I would say the car is in pretty good shape. I would give the body a 7 or 8 out of 10. Because of the...

My 87 Gt Convertible Feels Faster Than My 94 Gt Coupe (stock)

Thanks guys for you help. With my last Mustang, I went big. I went with a 351w and it ran great! I believe I will concentrate on making more power with less this time around. I definitely want to do the fan & alternator upgrade along with some good exhaust. After that, I want to do a HCI...
