    Feeling Heat Through Floor

Thanks, I think this may be it. There is alot of heat coming from right there.

    Feeling Heat Through Floor

Recently got an '89 5.0 vert. All 100% stock original except 3.73s. I noticed on a long drive, the floor just under my left foot really heated up, like it was coming off the cat or the exhaust is getting super hot. Everything runs OK, not overheating, but I'm concerned the cat is messed up or...

Does Base Timing Matter? 93 Lx 5.0

I've seen that table before and I believe it is innacurate. For the A9L manual trans it doesnt advance past 26 during wot. Would be good to verify but i think if you research this you'd find those that are very knowledgable in tuning will tell you it is not correct or maybe for the auto trans.

Does Base Timing Matter? 93 Lx 5.0

GT40P's don't like a ton of advance because they are very efficient and quick burning. Stay away from 93, stick with 87 it's a tad more explosive and 40P's don't really ping anyways, especially if they've been recently freshened prior to your install. They want 28 deg total timing max. Stock ECU...

    1.6 Or 1.7 Roller Rockers

I'd say 1.6. Valve stability is key and far more important than possibly a tiny bit of extra flow that 1.7's allow. I ran both 1.6/1.7 on my gt40p's and I couldn't tell a difference other than the 1.6 were quieter. Dyno tests on N/A 5.0's don't really show any gains either.

    Fox Na 306 E7te Heads 368hp/363tq

Indeed it does ! I'm aware of that, and that's one of the points here - solid cams make better power. I just think it's an often overlooked fact. People will come on here and say well I've got several K in nice aluminum heads, intake, and a cam with similar lift #'s but I can barely crack 300hp...

    Fox Na 306 E7te Heads 368hp/363tq

I think you make alot of good points and are probably alot more knowledgable on motors than me, but I would still stand by the statement that solid cams, even with similar lift #'s add alot to most motors, with no other changes other than compatible valvetrain. Not sure of the rules, but if NMRA...

    Fox Na 306 E7te Heads 368hp/363tq

Nice build, I'm sure the port work is awesome to let the E7s breath like that. The real magic here is running the solid cam, setup properly it adds well over 1000 RPM of good power up top. Even on an otherwise stock motor.

94 Mustang No Power High Rpm

Not enough fuel pump? That could explain track issue vs street as the fuel pump can keep up banging quickly through 1-2 but on the longer 3-4 pulls it starts to run dry.

I Dont Get Custom Cam Idea

I honestly have no idea how custom cams are even chosen. There's so many variables going on that the only way to really KNOW which cam is best would be to try EVERY single one for a given combo. There is no way to 'calculate' the optimal cam.

I Dont Get Custom Cam Idea

To add to that - the stock 5.0 HO cam is great and should rarely be messed with :pop:

Engine Cylinder 7 And 8 Plugs Fouled

Well no, that would be the PCV. But a delted EGR I believe will increase vacuum at the PCV and can cause increased oil sucked into intake and often results in one or two plugs fouling.

I Dont Get Custom Cam Idea

I too have a hard time believing that custom cams can give much benefits over an off the shelf cam. They come in so many different combinations off the shelf, surely there is something there that matches close to what is needed for a given combo.

Engine Cylinder 7 And 8 Plugs Fouled

My guess is the plug gap at 0.065" was your main issue. Drop that to 0.045" to 0.050". Mine had some slight break up at 0.054". Is your EGR deleted? If so, I'd guess that the extra vacuum is sucking oil causing the visible fouling of 7/8.

    Engine Misfire After H/c/i Swap

Could be mechanical, but i agree youd probably have other noises and symptoms. Did you gap the 764s? Too wide gap can cause miss, my gt40ps dont like them gapped over .050" and get some missing there. stock autolite 764 gap around .044" seems to be perfect. Double checked the firing order? Cap...

    Blown Heater Inlet Hose

Got the new Gates hose in there, re-installed the water restrictor this time on the heater tube side (was on the heater core side) to help limit the high pressure in the hose as well as the core. This got me thinking though - and decided this is a great opportunity to sell myself on a set of...

Valve Clatter; No Rocker To Pushrod Contact

There's a good chance you could find it in the oil pan, but there's probably other damage already taken place in the motor... Damn that sucks! Now what I would do (take it with a grain of salt), is get a good lifter, piece it back together and put on the rockers, and hand crank the motor to get...

    Emissions

Exactly, the resistors prevent you from getting the CEL and internally the ECM disables the spark advance w/EGR. Without the resistors you get the code and it messes with timing. Personally I have a Moates so I took it out of the tune, but prior to that I just used the resistors (in fact they...
