Borgeson steering box, is it the same as the GM box?

These look like the GM boxes to me. Is it possible to fit a used one from a GM vehicle and just get the hoses and steering column? And a pump bracket as well.

    Rear sway bar.

Supposedly my front is original GT equipment which i have no clue as what size it is supposed to be. Years ago I did but life, kids, work, living in Japan for 12 years and etc. I've forgotten some stuff. I remember reading an article in Car Craft that you may be able to find one off a car in a...

    Rear sway bar.

I've read somewhere that a rear sway bar causes some sort of undesirable effect concerning traction. If so what is the result.

Got my gasket kit in but what's the sleeve for???

I called a local machinist and he said it was for a harmonic balancer that is grooved. It allows you to use the same balancer and won't leak. SO I used it so I don't have to worry about leaks.

    Pepper in the radiator fix

This stuff is designed to get ya hpme or around until payday in my opinion. I've used several of them and wound up having to replace the part.

Got my gasket kit in but what's the sleeve for???

I opened up the gasket set and noticed it has a metal sleeve in it. It ssems like its supposed to fit over the harmonic balancer in case it has been chewed up. Do I need to tap this sleeve on to ensure a good leak proof seal or is it for a later model application. It seems like i'll have to...

    Today's sealing and gasket technology.

Its been a while since I pilled anything apart. I need to replace my oil pan, waterpump and timing cover gaskets. Is there anything better than the old cork gaskets for the pan and the other paper gaskets. Whats the best sealant t use on both. I used to use Indian Head on the water pump and...

    Time to upgrade exhaust

Just went w/ a 2 1/2 in exhaust w/ Thrush turbos and I love the growl. I had 2in and noticed i had to rejet the carb richer because of the increase in flow. I currently got Tri Ys. I'm not sure about the difference between those and Hi^po manifolds buy I'm sure its on here somewhere. The Tri-Ys...

    Carburetor for my 351c

That Summit carb looks like a copy of a Holley(sold in the late 80s and early 90s) that is a copy of the old Autolite cracker box carb. I would run a 750 on a 351C I have a 750 Edelbrock on my 302, and no trouble.

    Moog ball joint question

Looks like ya got it on right. I wouldn't worry about the metal shim warping as long as it does what its supposed to do. I've done several front ends on several cars and it was never an issue with the shim piece. I've installed them just like that and had no issues.

    289 cam info

The Performer RPM cam has a real nice lope to its idle. I would do as woodsnake suggests and use that cam. I'm happy w/ mine. I wish I had 373s all i got is 3:1s Oh BTW I would get a performer RPM intake to better match the cam too. Something to think about down the road.

    carb conversion questions. Alt wiring

I would look at the manual for both cars for the wiring and go from there. As for a carb I would go w/ a 750 Edelbrock. The power might be the same but the mpg will suffer.

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

I guess comes down to splitting hairs, on the street it won't be that big of a deal, race yes. A 347 may benifit a little more w/ the 1 5/8 a little more on the street but I reckon the difference may not be much. If ya got the dough (if the bigger set is more $$) then spend it, if not get the 1...

Oil pan hitting steering middle steering arm

I switched a 64 Falcon from a six to an eight. You will need to get in to v8 steering linkage as well. A v8 pitmann arm should slide right on the steering box, at least mine did.

    Tri-Y Vs Hedmann

I reckon the trouble I'll go through putting the Hedmans on isn't worth the power gain. I'm mainly on the street, and I don't drive it that often, only weekends. I am going to get a new exhaust, maybe 2.5 inch or 2.25 (as the collectors for the Tri-Ys are 2.5 inch.) I think maybe 2.5 would be...

    Tri-Y Vs Hedmann

I have Tri Ys on the car now, I also have a set of Hedmans(3in collector and bigger primaries) that came off my old Falcon. I was wondering if swapping them out would be worth all the trouble and scraped knuckles for the power i would get. I think the power increase would be minimal as in not...

    1968 289 H2O

Looks like ther is no sludge in the heads, thats a really good sign. Seems like someone may have been trying to gain some compression w/ the heads, or juust used what they had to get the car runnin. I wonder if the headers are salvagable. I do like your approach to your reconditioning. Its like...

How much power does an H pipe really make?

Thanks for the info, I like the rougher sounding idle of individual exhaust better, and if i gotta pull the trans its easier w/o the H-pipe

How much power does an H pipe really make?

I plan on going from 2 inch to 2-1/2 inch system and will use thrush turbo mufllers (mainly cuz I like the way they sound).:D
